Highlights from the 5/20/21 Board Meeting:
• Board President, Marie Anderson, and Board Member, Daniel Harris, achieved the status of Certificated Board Member by the NJSBA.
• 168 district High School students inducted into the National Honor Society.
• 40 district High School students received the Seal of Biliteracy from the NJ Dept. of Education.
• 256 district Middle School students inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.
• 7 district Middle School students received the National Junior Honor Society Outstanding Achievement Award Scholarship sponsored by NASSP and NJHS.
• Andrew Ferreira achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
• Thalia Santiago-Ortiz selected as the winner in the 2021 Mother’s Day Contest sponsored by the Corner Newspaper.
• 11 district Middle School students participated in the Junior Youth in Government Day.
• Submission of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act of 2006 Grant in the amount of $80,451.00
• Pre-K ESL Program approved at School #24 for the 2021-2022 school year.
• LEAP Program approved at School #29 from 6/21 thru 6/30.
• Shared Service Agreements with the Township of Woodbridge for communications systems maintenance; and for a part-time grant writer for 2021-2022.
• Athletes from CHS honored for their outstanding performances in academics and athletics in various 2021 Winter Sports.
• Coach Sandra Chiera selected as the Greater Middlesex White Division Coach of the Year in Girls Basketball for the Winter of 2021.
• Coach Joseph Rotella selected as the Greater Middlesex Conference Coach of the Year in Ice Hockey for the Winter of 2021.
• The Senior Olympics Organization of NJ will hold their annual event on 9/10, 9/11 and 9/12 at WHS and WMS.
• Use and Occupancy Agreements between the Colonia Girls’ Softball League and the Little Fellow League of Colonia.
• Bus Evacuation Drills conducted.

Families from Woodbridge Township School District's Title I schools recently participated in a virtual Math Family Workshop. A committee of teachers created tutorial videos to enable families to participate at their leisure. Highlights from the 4/22/21 Board Meeting:
• Student Calendar revised: No School – Friday, May 28, and Tuesday, June 1
• Ms. Anderson facilitated the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccinations to our staff
• Hackensack Meridian Health provided the COVID-19 vaccinations to our staff
• Mr. Rafanello, Eastern Janitorial, donated 15 cases of hand sanitizer
• Mr. Ediga donated $1,000 to the WTSD College Application Award
• Five district students awarded the 2020-2021 Student Recognition Award
• CHS student selected as a semi-finalist for the National Honor Society Award
• Four JFK students selected as finalists for the National Merit Scholarship Award
• Twenty-two IMS students inducted into the National Junior Honor Society
• JROTC Cadets from WHS received Honor with Distinction (HUD) status
• Nine JFK students received athletic awards for 2020-2021 winter sports
• JFK Boys’ Bowling Team won the 2020-2021 Division Sportsmanship Award of the Greater Middlesex Conference
• Twenty-one WHS athletes had outstanding performances during 2019-2020 fall sports
• WHS Girls’ Tennis Team won the 2020 Greater Middlesex Conference White Division Sportsmanship Award

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Woodbridge Township Board of Education announces that the open public budget hearing will take place on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at Ross Street School #11, 110 Ross Street, Woodbridge, NJ. The Board may retire to Closed Session to discuss personnel matters. Formal action may be taken. Pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order 173, there may be capacity limits on the number of people who may attend this Board Meeting in-person in order to maintain social distancing guidelines. As a result, the meeting will be streamed live on Channel 35 and those residents who are unable to attend in-person may e-mail their public comments to [email protected] until the end of the Meeting.
