If you think you are getting old, check out this 140 year old piano from 1879! Unfortunately this one wasn’t salvageable due to soundboard cracks, broken pedal trap work, and a cracked pinblock rendering this beautiful antique un-tuneable.

Brand new piano hammers. The condition of the hammers is one of the most important aspects of a piano as they are the starting point for setting off the tone of the strings. If your piano hammers have deep grooves on their striking surfaces from hitting the strings it may be time to recondition or replace the hammers. This will bring the piano’s sound back to life!

There are hundreds of these center pins inside every piano. Friction between these pins and their pivoting mechanical parts will dictate how heavy or light the piano keys feel. Also, if notes do not play or repeat properly the pivoting flanges inside may need to be “repinned” with these center pins.
