Kiwanis has a mission of serving the children of the world. Kiwanis Club of Woodburn focuses on children both locally and internationally. We make sure that every fourth-grader in Woodburn learns how to swim. We provide college scholarships every year. We teach kids leadership through programs like WHS & North Marion Key Clubs! We also support a lot of local organizations, like the food bank. Reg

John Zobrist, the Executive Director of the Woodburn Area Chamber of Commerce, presented at Tuesday’s Kiwanis meeting.

During his presentation, John highlighted the North Marion Business Service Alliance. This initiative brings together local businesses, leaders, and community members to achieve a common goal: providing our local businesses with access to valuable resources.

Their efforts are creating opportunities, fostering meaningful connections, and strengthening the heartbeat of our region. By supporting small businesses and promoting local culture and the arts, their impact extends beyond the business sector and makes a real difference in people’s lives.

John also recognized three of our Kiwanians who were honored at the 75th Annual Distinguished Service Alma Awards. Congratulations to Gina, James, and Yanira! 🎉

Can hardly believe we are already in mid-March! Here is a recap of the past few weeks.

We had a fantastic Casino Night—thank you to all our volunteers and supporters!

Help us welcome our new members: Korryn Petersen from the Woodburn Fire District and Barbara Bledsoe from Woodburn Transit!

Club Presenters:
In February, Ewart Brown spoke to the Kiwanis of Woodburn. Originally from Jamaica, Ewart aims to help Woodburn thrive. He created a meet-and-greet event for the community and first responders, which led to initiatives like Community Connection Day and Kid Fest, where kids receive free backpacks, school supplies, food, games, and engage with first responders.

In March, Fire Marshal Omar Ortiz presented. A Puerto Rican native, he took on the role in April 2025, overseeing fire prevention and community risk reduction. With an 80% increase in emergency calls since 2015, he emphasizes the importance of community awareness and safety.

Omar collaborates with local partners to create lasting positive impacts in Woodburn.
