PUBLIC NOTICE: Woodburn Public Works is notifying the community of a partially treated wastewater discharge into the Pudding River this morning, August 17.

At approximately 2:45 a.m. this morning, the Wastewater Treatment Facility experienced a power failure that lasted about 1 hour and 35 minutes. The standby generator did not start automatically, resulting in approximately 100,000 gallons of partially treated effluent being discharged into the Pudding River without disinfection. The discharge is located at river mile 21.4 on the Pudding River east of Woodburn, upstream of the HWY 211 Bridge.

⚠️ Public Works recommends that the public avoid contact with the Pudding River downstream of the wastewater treatment plant discharge for at least 24 hours. The closest access locations have been posted with warning signs.

Public Works will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
