Woodbury FMBA Local 62 would like to congratulate member Joseph Buono on his retirement from the Woodbury Fire Deparment. Joe served for 21 years with the department, rising to the rank of Fire Marshal, before his retirement.

Good luck in your retirement Joe, you’ll be missed!!!

Training is an important part of helping to ensure the safety of our residents. Yesterday, members of Local 62 conducted a vehicle extrication drill where they practiced a variety of vehicle extrication techniques including vehicle stabilization, a roof removal, and a dash displacement.

It was a great refresher to keep our skills sharp!

The hoagie tray was matched one for one by the Stellato’s Market on Route 45 in Deptford Township as part of their donation match to first responders in the area.

Earlier today the members of FMBA Local 62 attended the Gloucester County Fire Academy for live fire training. While there the members conducted numerous evolutions including extinguishing car fires and interior fire suppression operations using fire extinguishers.

The members of FMBA Local 62 would like to extend their gratitude to the instructors at the Salem County Fire Academy for the excellent training opportunity yesterday. It was a great experience and we hope to do it again soon.

Remembering a fallen little Hero, four years later...

Four years ago, God had a calling for a Hero to join his elite crew of Heroes of Heroes. Six year old Honorary Firefighter Noel Hunter, of the Woodbury Fire Department (New Jersey) heard the calling, and was reassigned to, “God’s First Due Crew” to look down for his brothers and sisters safety as the callings went out.

Honorary Firefighter Hunter here on earth, was made a Honorary Firefight, to bring Hope, and to bring spirits to many. His brothers and sisters, given Honorary Hunter his own helmet, looking for one day he would stand beside them. Every year, Santa Claus would stop by to visit him in comfort, and bringing joy to him, and his family. Knowing God had a bigger job for Honorary Firefighter Hunter to do, he is well missed down here on earth.

Our thoughts will be with the Hunter family, the Woodbury Fire Department, and Honorary Firefighter Hunter’s friends and supporters as the day goes by. Prayer to all involved........
