We’re thrilled that the artwork from our high school entrant has made it to the national level for the annual National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials “What Home Means to Me” poster contest! Alayah joined our Board of Commissioners yesterday afternoon to hear the good news.

Every year, kids aged 5-18 share why home is important to them through illustrations and short essays. The national competition is the culmination of NAHRO member contests held by local housing agencies, then state and regional chapters across the United States. Ultimately, 13 winners will be featured in NAHRO’s “What Home Means to Me” calendar for 2027.

Congratulations to Alayah! And thank you to our state and regional chapters: Minnesota NAHRO and the North Central Regional Council of National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NCRC NAHRO)!

The Washington County CDA is hiring a Community Development Technician!

Ideal candidates will thrive collaborating with a team. They will have strong prioritizing and time-management skills and can transition from working with people to focusing on process and procedures. This entry-level position provides an excellent learning opportunity for individuals looking to explore a career in community development or affordable housing.

The Community Development Technician supports a variety of programs and projects within the Community Development department. The technician will work closely alongside others to contribute to strategic initiatives that create and preserve affordable housing in Washington County. The technician will also play an important role with department administration, including record management, research and analysis, and a variety of special projects related to diverse topics within the sphere of community development.
