🎒 Back-to-School Safety Message from Sheriff Carmel Morina
As a new school year approaches, the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone that school safety is a shared responsibility.

To our students, parents, educators, motorists, and entire community: please take a moment to review these important safety reminders:

🚌 Slow down in school zones. Watch carefully for school buses, children crossing streets, and increased pedestrian traffic.
🚸 Stop for school buses when required and never pass a stopped bus with its red lights flashing.
🚗 Allow extra travel time during school drop-off and pick-up. Be patient and follow your school’s traffic patterns.
👀 Stay alert around crosswalks and intersections. Children may not always recognize the dangers of approaching traffic.
📱 Put the phone down while driving. Distracted driving can have devastating consequences.
🎒 Parents and guardians: Talk with your children about walking safely, stranger awareness, appropriate use of social media, and what to do if they ever feel unsafe.
🏫 Students: If you see something concerning, say something. Report suspicious activity or threats to a trusted adult, school official, or law enforcement.
🤝 Work together. Our School Resource Officers and law-enforcement partners remain committed to maintaining safe schools and building positive relationships with students and staff. The Gloucester County Sheriff's Office's SRO program specifically focuses on school security, safety education, and partnerships with the school community.
A safe school year starts with all of us. Let's slow down, stay alert, look out for one another, and make sure every child gets to school and home safely each day.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT: Fraudulent Calls Claiming to Be from the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office
The Gloucester County Sheriff's Office has been made aware of a phone scam in which callers falsely identify themselves as Sheriff's Officers and claim that the recipient has an active warrant for failing to respond to a jury duty notice.
Please be aware:
The Gloucester County Sheriff's Office does not call individuals regarding missed jury duty.
The Sheriff's Office does not issue arrest warrants for failing to respond to a jury duty notice.
Scammers often use fear and urgency to pressure victims into providing personal information, sending money, or meeting in person.
If you receive a call like this:
Do not provide any personal or financial information.
Do not send money or purchase gift cards.
DO NOT AGREE TO MEET THEM IN PERSON.
Hang up immediately.
If you have questions or would like to report the scam, please contact the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office directly at 856-384-4600.

Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office Announces Apprehension of Two Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives
Woodbury, NJ — Gloucester County Sheriff Carmel Morina is pleased to announce the successful apprehension of two individuals who were listed on the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list, Derek Blackman and Craig Oneil.
Derek Blackman was wanted on a Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office warrant for 2nd Degree Resisting Arrest, N.J.S.A. 2C:29-2B, as well as a Failure to Appear for a Child Support Hearing.
On July 31, 2026, members of the Glassboro Police Department located and apprehended Blackman without incident. He was subsequently lodged in the Salem County Jail pending further court proceedings.
Craig Oneil was wanted on several Superior Court warrants, including 3rd Degree Resisting Arrest, N.J.S.A. 2C:29-2B, and 3rd Degree Burglary, N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2A(1). Oneil was also wanted on multiple outstanding municipal court warrants.
On August 6, 2026, following a lengthy investigation, members of the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit successfully located and apprehended Oneil. He was taken into custody without incident and subsequently lodged in the Salem County Jail pending further court proceedings.
Sheriff Morina commended the members of the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit and the Glassboro Police Department for their efforts in locating and apprehending these wanted fugitives.
The Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of individuals wanted on outstanding warrants to contact law enforcement. All information received will be investigated appropriately.
To date, 273 fugitives have been apprehended under Sheriff Carmel Morina’s Top Ten Most Wanted List.

Gloucester County Sheriff's Office Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitive Apprehended
Sheriff Carmel Morina is pleased to announce the successful capture of one of the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Ronnell Williams.
Williams was wanted on a Violation of Probation warrant stemming from an underlying second-degree Aggravated Assault (N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1B(13)) charge.
On July 29, 2026, members of the Woodbury Police Department successfully apprehended Williams without incident. Following his arrest, Williams was lodged in the Salem County Jail pending further court proceedings.
Sheriff Morina commended the efforts of the Woodbury Police Department for their assistance in locating and apprehending Williams. The Gloucester County Sheriff's Office continues to work closely with our local, county, state, and federal law enforcement partners to locate and apprehend wanted fugitives, ensuring the safety and security of our communities.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of wanted fugitives is encouraged to contact the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office. Tips can be submitted anonymously, and all information received will be investigated.
Williams brings the overall total to 271 fugitive apprehensions since the inception of Sheriff Carmel Morina’s Top Ten Most Wanted List.

Today, Sheriff Carmel Morina and the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office proudly honor Sheriff's Officer Leonard "Lenny" Romano on his retirement after 25 years of dedicated service.
Throughout his career, Lenny has exemplified professionalism, integrity, and compassion. He always served with a smile, treated everyone with respect, and was never hesitant to lend a helping hand to those in need. His positive attitude and unwavering commitment made a lasting impact on both his fellow officers and the community he faithfully served.
Thank you, Lenny, for 25 years of outstanding service, dedication, and friendship. Your contributions to the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office will never be forgotten.

Johnson Memorial Training Room in honor of a man whose legacy will continue to inspire generations of law enforcement professionals. Undersheriff Johnson’s wife , Bobbi, children and family were in attendance.
Undersheriff Johnson was deeply committed to preparing, mentoring, and developing those who serve in the field of law enforcement. His leadership, guidance, and unwavering dedication inspired excellence, fostered teamwork, and strengthened the mission of the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office.
Throughout his distinguished 38-year career in law enforcement, George served with honor, led with integrity, and loved without measure. His impact on this office and the countless lives he touched will never be forgotten.
As we dedicate this training room in his memory, we ensure that his commitment to service, professionalism, and leadership will continue to guide those who wear the badge for years to come.

Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office Captures Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitive
Sheriff Carmel Morina is pleased to announce the successful capture of one of the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Michael Hogan.
Hogan was wanted on a Violation of Probation warrant stemming from an underlying charge of Second-Degree Aggravated Assault.
On July 13, 2026, detectives assigned to the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit conducted a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 295 Northbound in West Deptford Township. Hogan, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was identified and taken into custody without incident.
Following his arrest, Hogan was transported and lodged in the Salem County Jail, where he is being held pending further court proceedings.
The Gloucester County Sheriff's Office encourages anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of wanted individuals to contact the Sheriff's Office. Tips from the public continue to play an important role in the successful apprehension of fugitives throughout Gloucester County.
Hogan is the 268th fugitive captured since the inception of Sheriff Carmel Morina’s Top Ten Most Wanted List.
