🐴🌟 Calling All Horse Enthusiasts! 🌟🐴

It's time to saddle up and get ready for Horse Bowl and Hippology Practices!

Open to all 4th-12th grade 4-H members, these practices are a great way to learn about horses, make new friends, and have fun with fellow 4-H'ers!

📅 First Practice: Monday, November 4
⏰ 3:00-4:30 PM
📍 Cannon County Extension Office (Downstairs)

After our first meeting, practices will be held on Tuesdays, and participants will receive a full practice schedule.

🐎 No horse? No problem!
🐎 No previous horse knowledge? That's okay too!

All you need is a willingness to learn and have fun! We'll explore all aspects of the horse world, including:

🔹 Coat colors and patterns
🔹 Feeds and nutrition
🔹 Horse health and care
🔹 Tack and equipment
🔹 Gaits and movement
🔹 Breeds, anatomy, and much more!

Whether you're dreaming of owning a horse someday or already love everything equine, Horse Bowl and Hippology are a great way to build knowledge, teamwork, and confidence.

📣 Attention 6th–12th Graders! 📣

Honor Club will be having its first meeting of the year on Monday, October 26th from 3:00-4:00 PM in Mr. Nathan Brazle's room at CCMS!

Whether you're already a member or interested in joining, we'd love to have you come learn more about Honor Club and get involved.

🎃 We will also be preparing goodies for Trick-or-Treating!

The Cannon County 4-H Chick Chain was a tremendous success this year, thanks to the incredible support of our community, volunteers, sponsors, and families!

From April through October, 24 Cannon County 4-H members raised Rhode Island Red and Black S*x Link hens, learning firsthand the responsibility, dedication, and management skills that come with caring for livestock. By auction day, most of the birds were already laying, showcasing the hard work and commitment of our youth.

A special thank you goes to Rutherford Farmers Cooperative - Woodbury for donating a bag of feed to each participant to help them get started and for providing gift cards to our Grand Champion and Reserve Champion winners.

We are also incredibly thankful for our dedicated volunteers. Michael Shirley, Owner and Manager of Family Pet Health, volunteered his time to judge the birds and educate youth on proper chicken care and management. His passion for agriculture and ability to connect with young people make a lasting impact on our members every year.

Another heartfelt thank you to Greg Goff with Exit Realty Auctions, who once again donated his time and equipment to serve as auctioneer. Greg not only helps make the auction a success but consistently promotes the Cannon County 4-H program and is one of our strongest supporters.

The auction was one of our best yet, with the average bird price increasing to $27 per bird. Funds raised from the auction help ensure the Chick Chain program continues next year while also supporting other Cannon County 4-H opportunities such as judging teams, local day camps, leadership activities, and educational programs. As a nonprofit youth organization, we are grateful for every buyer who invests in our young people.

Programs like the Cannon County 4-H Chick Chain would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors, volunteers, buyers, and community members. Thank you for investing in our youth and helping them develop the life skills, confidence, and agricultural knowledge that will benefit them for years to come. 📸🏆 Celebrating Our 4-H Achievers! 🏆📸

On Sunday, September 27, we celebrated the achievements of more than 40 outstanding 4-H members at our Annual 4-H Awards Banquet!

These dedicated 4-H'ers successfully advanced to multi-county, regional, and state-level events in a variety of project areas, including Photography, Poster, Project Fair, Public Speaking, Dairy Shows, Horse Shows, Horse Judging, Horse Bowl/Hippology, Dairy Judging, Wildlife Judging, Livestock Judging, Meats Judging, Poultry Judging, Grill Master, and Skillathon.

We also recognized participants and honorees in Sewing, Outstanding Senior Awards, Healthy Living Ambassador, Congress, Roundup, and Academic Congress programs.

We are incredibly proud of each and every one of these young people for their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments throughout the year. Your commitment to learning, leadership, and service truly reflects the spirit of 4-H. Congratulations on all you have achieved, and we look forward to seeing what you accomplish next!

📣🔥 Cannon County 4-H Shines at the 2026 Central Region Grill Master Contest! 🔥📣

The 2026 Central Region 4-H Grill Master Contest was held on September 17 at the Nashville Fair, and Cannon County was proudly represented by 26 talented 4-H members!

Participants showcased their skills by preparing beef, poultry, pork, and lamb, with scores based on grilling technique, taste, food safety, and many other important factors. We are incredibly proud of all our competitors for their hard work, dedication, and willingness to take on the challenge.
