Today we kicked off our summer day camps with Jam and Biscuits! We had a fun filled day first with making strawberry jam, learning water bath canning and also making freezer jam. In the afternoon we made our own butter (it is June dairy month after all) and then some homemade biscuits! We got to taste it all and take some home to share as well. What a great group! 🍓 🫙 👨‍🍳

Join us for Dairy Judging — everyone is welcome! 🐄✨
You don’t have to own a dairy cow or know anything about them. If you’re curious, willing to learn, and ready to have fun, this team is for you!

Our first practice is June 10 from 3:00–4:30 PM at the Cannon County Extension Office, downstairs.
We’ll continue practicing as we prepare for the Central Region Dairy Judging Contest at MTSU on July 14.

Cannon County is celebrating all month with our “Milk’s Got Game” theme — and we’ve planned a whole calendar of dairy fun. Look for 4‑H athlete features, easy dairy recipes, nutrition spotlights, local farm stories, and interactive contests for kids and families.

Don’t miss what we're sure will be a fan‑favorite Milk Mustache Contest coming up soon. Follow along — June is going to be a blast!

🌞🍀 LAST CALL for 4‑H Junior Camp! 🍀🌞

We’re down to our final few spots, and we want YOUR 4th–6th grade kiddo at Clyde York 4‑H Center with us June 15–19 in Crossville!

Camp is packed with favorites like zip‑lining, swimming, archery, fishing, campfire nights, sports, paddle‑boarding, and kayaking — plus all the laughs, memories, and adventures that make Junior Camp a fan favorite every single year.

🌿 Cannon County 4‑H Shines at the Central Region Wildlife Judging Contest! 🍀

On May 12, 17 Cannon County 4‑H’ers competed at the Central Region Wildlife Judging Contest held at the Cheatham Lock & Dam in Ashland City. The 4‑H Wildlife Judging Contest is a hands‑on challenge where youth identify wildlife, evaluate habitats, and recommend management practices that help species thrive. It blends science, problem‑solving, and real‑world conservation skills — and our kids absolutely rose to the occasion.

🌱 Junior Division (4th–5th Grade)
We took two junior teams:
Junior Team A — Hudson Brown, Sawyer Frye, Maggie Self, Matthew Richardson
Junior Team B — Emily Guffey, Wyatt Launius, Ada Smith
Out of 9 total teams and 37 participants, they recognized the top 5 teams and top 10 individuals.

🏆 Junior Team A placed 2nd overall!
• Sawyer Frye — Overall High Individual
• Hudson Brown — 7th High Individual

🌿 Junior High Division (6th–8th Grade)

We took two complete teams plus two individuals:
Junior High Team A — Sophie Frye, Jase Hare, Case Richardson, Logan Mansfield
Junior High Team B — Remi Carpenter, Landon Mansfield, Walker Launius, Aubree Givens
Individuals: Landon Self, Olivia Guffey
Out of 6 total teams and 35 participants, they recognized the top 5 teams and top 10 individuals.

🥇 Junior High Team A placed 1st overall!
• Logan Mansfield — Overall High Individual
• Sophie Frye — 2nd High Individual
• Jase Hare — 3rd High Individual
• Case Richardson — 4th High Individual

👏 Junior High Team B placed 4th, with Remi Carpenter placing 9th High Individual.

💚 We couldn’t be prouder.
These youth worked hard, learned a ton, and represented Cannon County with grit, teamwork, and enthusiasm. While winning is always exciting, the fun they had and the knowledge they gained throughout the process are what truly matter.
