Historic buildings hold the stories of our past—and thanks to dedicated craftsmen like Jake Jones, those stories continue to live on.
In this video, we highlight Jake Jones, owner of Medicine Wood, a preservation and restoration firm specializing in historic buildings. From restoring original windows and doors to carefully replicating architectural details, Jake’s work focuses on preserving the integrity and craftsmanship of each structure.
Recently named Historic Preservationist of the Year in Cottage Grove, Jake has worked on projects across the region, including the Newport Public Library, where original windows were restored rather than replaced—maintaining both the building’s character and its connection to the community. He is also currently working on the restoration of the historic Town Hall in Old Cottage Grove, continuing his commitment to preserving local history.
