The Woodbury Firefighters Alumni Association is celebrating our 15th anniversary this year. Our cornerstone program is our annual scholarship that benefits the families of current and former employees of Woodbury Public Safety who choose to pursue a post-secondary education in Medicine, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, EMS or fire services.
Our scholarship program has grown with our organization – from one $500 award to four $850 awards annually. Over 10 years, we have given back over $18,000 to our emergency services community.
With that comes a deep appreciation for not only those we serve, but those who have supported us in our mission. As we are once again approaching our annual Golf Tournament, which funds our scholarship program, we are excited to share our 2026 WFFAA Scholarship recipients:
* Emma Nordeen. Daughter of Eric (Julie) Nordeen, Woodbury Fire (ret). Emma attends St. Catherine University; she plans to earn her EMT certification this year and is pursuing a career in Dermatology.
* Lily Novotny. Daughter of Shane (Amy) Novotny, Woodbury Fire. Lily studies Exercise Science at Concordia University on a path towards a career in Physical Therapy.
* Miles Hane. Son of Steve (Elaina) Hane, Woodbury Police and nephew of Phil Hennemann, Woodbury Fire (ret). Inspired by several family members dedicated to emergency medicine, Miles will be studying biochemistry on a pre-medical track at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.
* Isabelle Mara. Daughter of Jim (Kathy) Mara, Woodbury Fire (ret) She is in her third year at DeSales University and will graduate with a B A this year and start their PA master’s program next Fall.
