Woodbury FFA Chapter

Woodbury FFA Chapter The Woodbury FFA Chapter, is a local chapter in Connecticut, and belongs to the National FFA Organization, the largest youth organization in the U.S.

The Ellis Clark Regional Agriscience and Technology Center located at Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury, Connecticut is one of the largest and most successful in the country with over 325 students from 14 different towns. Started by Ellis Clark, the first Vo-Ag teacher at Woodbury High School in 1920, this program was originally a farming school for boys, with no FFA connection for 8 years; hence

the National FFA was formed in 1928. The program remained at Woodbury High School until 1970 at which point a new High School and Agriscience Building was constructed in Woodbury. The High School and agriculture facilities were both designed to accommodate students from Region 14 School District (Woodbury and Bethlehem). Currently, selected students from 14 towns attend Nonnewaug High School for the Agriscience Program. The continued success of the program has caused enrollment numbers to increase steadily over the years forcing a major renovation and expansion completed in 1999. The following Connecticut Towns allow students to attend Nonnewaug High School for the Agriscience Program - Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Bethel, Bethlehem, Middlebury, Naugatuck, Oxford, Prospect, Seymour, Southbury, Watertown, Woodbridge, and Woodbury. This page is used to communicate our story and happenings, to many audiences, including fellow members, other chapters, community members, and anyone interested in Agriculture and Youth Leadership.

What an amazing day it was as we held our Annual Drive Your Tractor to School Day! This year there was over 35 tractors that attended!

Students - thank you for driving safely!
To our community - thank you for being so excited and supportive of this special tradition!
Also a special shoutout to the parents who supported our students in various ways - from following them in, to cooking, or providing pastries/treats to our participating students.

It’s a true team effort to make this event go as smooth as it does. We are looking forward to next year already! 🚜

On Wednesday, May 20 the Timber Team hosted their annual Timber Trials against Wamogo, Woodland, Northwestern, and Shepaug. We were able to avoid the raindrops and finish our spring season on a high note!

Thank you to everyone who helped with this event from providing logs, to setup, timing/scoring, and cleanup at the end of the event. It truly takes a village to host an event like this!

Thank you to Jackson Smith, from William Kenny Associates, who came out to talk to the Natural Resource and Nursery Landscape students about soils yesterday! The Landscape students dug 3 different soil pits on campus and we were able to compare and contrast the difference in soil type and location.

Day two, today in period 4 Freshmen Animal Science class, students learned the fundamentals of safely catching, leading, and properly haltering horses! Students practiced confidence, patience, and proper handling techniques while building important animal care skills.

These hands-on experiences are excellent preparation for future SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) projects, helping students develop responsibility, safety awareness, and real-world livestock management skills. Great job today, freshmen! FutureAgricultureLeaders
