On September 10, 2026, the eve of 25th anniversary, join us for a comprehensive presentation on the WTC attacks which will cover the timeline, the impact, and the long-lasting historical aftermath of that day.

Geri Travis, a former volunteer docent at the first World Trade Center Museum (Tribute) and a member of the WTC Families association will present the program. Geri was a senior officer of a major consulting firm whose office was on the 101st floor of the South Tower. She lost 179 co-workers on 9/11. She will share both the historical facts as well as personal photographs, artifacts and stories from that day and in the 25 years since.

🌳The Fascinating History of Connecticut's Charter Oak🌳

The Charter Oak, a venerable white oak tree once located in Hartford, Connecticut, symbolizes the enduring spirit of independence and self-governance in American history. During a significant episode in 1687, when Sir Edmund Andros, the governor of the Dominion of New England, attempted to revoke the Connecticut Colony's original charter—an act that would have effectively stripped the colony of its autonomy—a group of colonial leaders hid the charter within the hollow trunk of this mighty oak. The daring concealment allowed them to defy Britain's authoritarian rule and preserve their governance until 1692, when they reclaimed their rights after Andros was ousted. This incident not only underscored early American resistance against tyranny but also established the Charter Oak as a potent symbol of liberty and democracy that continues to resonate today. Join Historical Storyteller John Cilio as he discusses this early and important example of Connecticut's cultural identity.

John Cilio is a storyteller, author, and researcher who has been captivating audiences with his tales of the past for over 15 years. As a proud member of the Organization of American Historians, Sons of the American Revolution, and the Association for the Study of Connecticut History. John has shared his knowledge through numerous articles in national magazines and newspapers. Through his captivating storytelling and in-depth research, John Cilio continues to inspire and educate. Prepare to be transported through time and experience history through period stories and vintage photographs.

🚶Pedestrian Safety Program (For All Ages)🚶

Walk, run, hike, or ride your bike safer this summer!
Join Woodbury's Office of Emergency Management Director, Amy Clark for a program on pedestrian safety. This project is funded through a Connecticut Department of Transportation Safety Grant and facilitated by the Woodbury Public Library, the Woodbury Senior Center and the Office of Emergency Management.
The goal of this family friendly presentation is simple: help everyone stay safe while walking in our community.
Whether you walk for exercise, to school, to the store, or simply across a parking lot, there are simple things we can all do to reduce the risk of injury and save lives.
Participants will receive a FREE safety vest or clip on safety light for walking, exercising, or biking along Woodbury's roads and trails.

Saturday mornings are a great time to create! Drop in and JUNK JOURNAL in the Main Library! The self-directed program will include creative prompts and you'll find a variety of supplies for you to create with!

If you are currently working on a journal (are they ever really finished?), feel free to bring it with you to work on. The Library will supply a blank journal if you need one. All materials are supplied but feel free to bring items to share!

🎤Blues 101 with Ramblin' Dan Stevens🎤

Ramblin’ Dan’s Blues 101 encompasses the history of blues music in America from its origins in the African American tradition of the deep south to the present day.

The multi-media presentation includes classic blues pieces played on authentic vintage instruments interspersed with historical images, video and educational material. Of special interest are pieces performed on Dan's homemade, three stringed "Cigar Box Guitar" and one stringed "Diddley Bow", both primitive instruments used by early bluesmen and played with a "bottleneck" slide.

"Ramblin" Dan Stevens is a veteran touring bluesman and teacher who has entertained audiences throughout the US, Germany, UK, Canada and Virgin Islands. As a finalist in the International Blues Challenge on Beale St. in Memphis TN and protege of the legendary folk/blues icon, Dave Van Ronk, Dan has been lauded for his ability as a raconteur and for the authenticity of his approach gained by many years on the road as a traveling blues musician.
