On 09/02/26 the Woodbury Resident Trooper Office was made aware of a Facebook post indicating that someone was driving in town and shooting at houses and possibly a dog.
The alleged victim in the incident had not contacted police directly.
With further follow up by Woodbury Officers and State Troopers we were able to locate the witness.
An investigation was conducted to include but not limited to a neighborhood canvass and a sweep of the the area along with a State Police K9 trained to locate shell casings.
No evidence was obtained to suggest someone was driving and shooting from a vehicle.
Around the same time, we received two other calls in different areas of town for the sound of gun shots and officers responded quickly to those areas and found nothing.
Based on the investigation it is believed the sounds were from an older model truck that had drove through town and would make a popping sound which could have been construed as a gunshot.
As always, we encourage the public to report concerns immediately thru 911 or the main non-emergency numbers, 203-263-3400 or 860-626-7900.
Thank you for your cooperation and assistance to keeping our town safe!
