WLFD regrets to announce the passing of Honorary Member and former longtime Fire Official Paul Bechtel. Paulie was an integral part of WLFD, working together while serving as the Fire Official for over 2 decades. He led the annual Fire Prevention Open House, helped with community activities, supported fundraising efforts and could always be found in the Kitchen on meeting night helping to prepare department meals. Paulie was an incredible person who always had a great story to tell and will be missed by WLFD and the greater Woodcliff Lake community. RIP

This Evening at 6:48, WLFD was dispatched to Winfield Dr for the grille on fire on the deck. 68-4 went arriving with fire showing from rear of a middle of the row of a townhouse and requested the working fire assignment be filled bringing a Engine, Ladder, RIT and BLS. 68-Squad went arriving stretching a 1 3/4” line to the rear. 68-Truck setup to the roof and assisted with opening up alongside 68-Rescue Engine and our mutual aid companies. The fire is currently under investigation by the Woodcliff Lake Fire Prevention Bureau. Deputy 68-2 had Winthrop Dr Command. Thank you to Montvale FD for handling an additional assignment while we operated.
