Three wonderful Midsummer celebrations made for a fantastic weekend of Swedish traditions in the Pacific Northwest!
What a fantastic weekend celebrating Midsummer! Saturday featured the Nordic Northwest Nordic Northwest Midsummer celebration in Portland, Oregon. Despite a gloomy forecast and the occasional downpour, it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying this well-organized and festive event.
Sunday began with the 100th Midsummer celebration at Vasa Park Resort on Lake Sammamish. A large crowd gathered to enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast, food trucks, children’s activities, and, of course, the Vikings.
The celebrations continued at St. Edwards State Park with the annual Midsummer event organized by the Skandia Folkdance Society of Seattle Washington. This wonderful celebration also attracted a large crowd and featured traditional dancing, live music, and an impressive Midsummer pole.
A heartfelt thank you to all of the organizers, volunteers, performers, and everyone who came out to celebrate. It is wonderful to see Swedish and Scandinavian Midsummer traditions continue to bring communities together and thrive throughout the Pacific Northwest.
