Have yard work on your weekend to-do list? Mitigating debris from your property helps to lessen your wildfire risk! Clearing pine needles, leaves, pine cones, and other debris reduces fuel for fires should disaster strike. Create a defensible space around your property by clearing materials at least 30 feet from any building structures. Don't forget to clear your roof and gutters!

Earlier this week, City staff came together for an all-staff State of the City meeting. These meetings are a time for staff to share company and connect, review highlights and challenges, and gather inspiration for our shared goal - serving the community of Woodland Park.

At each State of the City, City Manager Aaron Vassalotti shares a word of inspiration and a quote for staff to carry with them. The word for this meeting was thankful. Public service relies heavily on teamwork and collaboration, and having the right team members in the right roles is pivotal. Expressing his appreciation, Mr. Vassalotti went on to recognize this balance and each staff member who contributes.

"You can dream, create, design, and build the most wonderful place in the worldโ€ฆbut it requires people to make the dream a reality.โ€ - Walt Disney

Truck enthusiasts of all ages (and breeds) had an exciting morning at the 26th annual Touch-A-Truck event at Meadow Wood Sports Complex! The City's favorite Public Works staffer, Roland, had so much fun visiting and exploring the many vehicles attending this year's event. He got to hang out with Sergeant Wadham from the Woodland Park Police Department and explore her patrol car. Next up, he checked out a brush truck and met new friends from NE Teller County Fire Protection District. Military staff invited Roland to pose with field gear, and he loved that! Ever sat in a Colorado Department of Transportation plow truck? Roland enjoyed having a plow's eye view! The team from U.S. Forest Service - PSICC National Forest was happy to share a seat in their truck, and of course he had his turn in City fleet trucks too.

Did you miss today's event? Be sure to follow the Woodland Park Parks and Recreation Department to stay in the loop on City events and opportunities for all of our community members!
