Empower local youth to make a difference!

The City of West Sacramento is thrilled to announce the Youth Climate Action Fund, thanks to generous funding from Bloomberg Philanthropies.

This initiative empowers young people aged 15-24 to take the lead in tackling climate change within our community.

Are you ready to take action? The City of West Sacramento is seeking innovative project proposals from young individuals and youth-focused organizations. Projects can range from $1,000 to $5,000.

Who can apply?
• Young people aged 15-24
• Youth-led organizations
• Established organizations with a strong focus on youth involvement

All projects must take place within West Sacramento.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

The County of Yolo is requesting proposals from qualified consultants/consulting firms to support the development of a Yolo County Regional Resilience Collaborative as outlined in this RFP.

Yolo County (as the primary project coordinator); the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation, a federally recognized sovereign tribal government; University of California at Davis (UC Davis); the Cities of Davis and Woodland; Cool Davis; and Valley Vision (together, as the Regional Partners) are seeking consultant support to engage the community to:

🌿Develop a needs assessment that identifies shared resilience priorities related to climate risks, including wildfire, extreme heat, drought, and flooding.

🌿Create a governance structure for the proposed Yolo County Regional Resilience Collaborative (Collaborative), to achieve these shared priorities

🌿Develop a funding and implementation strategy to build staff capacity and facilitate ongoing collaborative work in Yolo County, including implementing climate-resilient projects.

The Regional Partners will focus on identifying shared priorities for addressing climate risks impacting vulnerable communities and will ensure vulnerable communities have a decision-making role in the Collaborative and are seeking the support of a consultant in doing so.

Proposals are due by September 6th!

The Yolo County Sustainability Team had the pleasure of attending CivicWell’s 15th Annual California Climate and Energy Collaborative (CCEC) Forum on the 25th and 26th in Palm Springs 🏜!

This year’s theme was “Collective Innovation: Cultivating Collaboration for Equitable Climate Action” and keynote speakers were comprised of tribal leadership, California Energy Commission (CEC) and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Commissioners, and executives from the Department of Energy (DOE) as well the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR).

We participated in plenaries, panels, and breakout/Q&A sessions, covering topics of equitable community engagement and communications, building electrification strategies, tools for successful climate action planning, and more 🌎☀💙!

This was a wonderful opportunity to network with and learn best practices from Tribal, City, County, and State as well as non-governmental sustainability departments and programs, to incorporate into our own jurisdiction.

We left the conference feeling energized and empowered and look forward to finalizing the CAAP and moving into implementation at the end of the year!

The Yolo County Sustainability Division is looking for THREE CivicSpark Fellows to join our team for the 2024-2025 service year!

Positions:

Building and Electrification Fellow – help Yolo County manage a suite of building electrification and energy efficiency priorities that meet both our net-negative GHG emissions reductions and community benefit goals!

Outreach and Communications Fellow – are you interested in community engagement and content development (for social media, websites, newsletters, and more!) for bolstering climate action and equity work in Yolo County? Apply to be an Outreach and Communications Fellow to implement and sustain CAAP implementation progress milestones and providing new interfaces for engaging with the community around our consumption-based inventory and community-facing CAAP implementation opportunities.

Regional Resilience Grant Program Facilitation Fellow – support Yolo County’s first formal climate collaborative, the Yolo County Regional Resilience Collaborative (YCRRC) to engage vulnerable communities to identify shared resilience priorities related to climate risks, including wildfire, extreme heat, drought, and flooding, support the development of a governance structure for the proposed YCRRC, and support the development of an implementation strategy to build staff capacity and facilitate ongoing collaborative work in Yolo County, including implementing climate-resilient projects.

As a Fellow working with the Yolo County Sustainability Division, you will be part of a dynamic, ambitious, and caring team and have the opportunity to kickstart your career in climate justice, sustainability, and community engagement!

The County of Yolo is requesting proposals from qualified consultants/consulting firms to conduct a Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Action Plan and Municipal Fleet Transition Plans.

The ZEV Action Plan and the Fleet Transition Plans will reduce vehicle emissions, improve air quality, and help provide equal access to clean mobility services across Yolo County. The ZEV Action Plan and Fleet Transition Plans will outline a timeline, prioritization framework, and budget needs to assist with the acceleration of public and municipal fleet ZEV adoption and emissions reduction and help Yolo County and our partners meet our respective greenhouse gas reduction goals while maximizing benefit for our underserved communities.

We are excited to announce that we are seeking three Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to partner as Paid Outreach Partners for our Home Energy Efficiency Programs.
