Yolo County gardening enthusiasts are invited to discover how they can turn garbage into gold at a free composting class on Saturday, December 9.

This class is free to all and is part of HHSA's commitment to providing education that can help residents eat fresh fruits and vegetables and live healthier lives. Pre-registration is required for the classes. Full details for the event are below:

This National Influenza Vaccination Week, put your community’s health first and make getting a flu shot a festive tradition.

The best way to prevent serious illness from the flu is by getting a , but healthy habits like washing your hands and covering coughs and sneezes also help prevent flu and other respiratory illnesses. ⚠️OUTBREAK IN CANTALOUPES⚠️: Illnesses in this outbreak are severe. Half of sick people are adults 65 or older, and a third are children 5 years or younger.

It can be hard to know which brand of whole cantaloupes were used in pre-cut fruit products. If you don’t know, the safest choice is to not eat it, especially if you’re at higher risk for severe Salmonella illness.

People who are more likely to get very sick from Salmonella include:
• Adults 65 or older
• Children under 5
• People with weakened immune systems
