Does the sky look a little eerie to anyone else today?

If you’ve noticed the hazy, unusual-looking skies over Woodland, what you’re seeing is smoke from the fires burning near Big Sur drifting over our area.

While the smoke is certainly impacting the appearance of our Valley skies, current air quality at ground level is not being significantly impacted, as much of the smoke is remaining aloft.

Conditions can change, so we always encourage residents to stay informed—especially those who may be sensitive to smoke.

For current information on wildfire smoke and air quality, visit the AirNow Fire and Smoke Map:
https://fire.airnow.gov/ #6.83/36.298/-120.034

Picture Description: Woodland Fire Department training area beneath a dark, smoky orange sky. Several red fire engines and firefighters are visible in the foreground. A thick layer of wildfire smoke hangs overhead, creating an eerie, brown-orange appearance, while the air closer to the ground appears noticeably clearer.

🚒 Service Before Self

Every emergency is different. Every family is different. Every call matters.

Whether we're responding to a structure fire, teaching first graders about fire safety, reviewing construction plans, investigating a fire, or helping someone after a medical emergency, our mission stays the same:

👨‍🚒Selfless service through dedicated leadership, committed risk reduction, and aggressive suppression.🔥

Thank you, Woodland, for trusting us to be part of your community.

25 Years Later, We Remember.

On September 11, 2026, the Woodland community is invited to join the Woodland Fire Department and Woodland Police Department, as we commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

We will gather in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, including the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency responders, and civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor their lives, their courage, and the extraordinary acts of service and unity that followed.

🕯️ September 11 Remembrance Ceremony
📅 Friday, September 11, 2026
⏰ 6:50 a.m.
📍 Woodland Fire Station 3
1550 Springlake Ct., Woodland, CA 95776

We invite our community to stand with us as we remember those we lost, honor those who answered the call, and ensure that a new generation understands why we will Never Forget.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

🚒 We're Part of Your Community

Behind every badge is someone who shops at local businesses, cheers at youth sporting events, volunteers in the community, and raises a family.

Many Woodland firefighters and staff are your neighbors. Protecting Woodland isn’t just our job. It’s personal.

👨🏾‍🚒👩🏽‍🚒 We Train Like Lives Depend On It

Firefighters don't only train at the academy. Every year they continue practicing medical skills, fire attack, rescues, hazardous materials response, vehicle extrication, communications, and countless other skills.

Why?

Because emergencies don't come with practice rounds. When we train together, we're better prepared to serve you.

🚒 When Others Run Out... We Go In.

Most people never see what happens on the other side of a 911 call.

Behind every emergency are firefighters making split-second decisions, working in dangerous conditions, and relying on training, teamwork, and experience to protect lives and property.

While the flames often capture the attention, it's the preparation, discipline, and commitment behind every response that make the difference.

Every call is someone's worst day. For us, it's an opportunity to make a difference. We're honored to serve the Woodland community, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. ❤️🚒

🏢 Safety Is Built In

When you walk into a school, restaurant, apartment, or business, you probably don't notice the safety features around you:

💧Fire sprinklers
🚨Fire alarms
🚪Exit signs
💡Emergency lighting
🔥Fire-rated walls
🔑Accessible exits

These systems exist because firefighters, plan reviewers, builders, and inspectors work together long before a building opens. Many of the safest buildings are the ones you never have to think about.

🔥 Prevention Happens Every Day

Some of the most important work the Fire Department does never makes the news. Every week our Community Risk Reduction Division performs inspections, reviews construction plans, teaches fire safety in schools, investigates fires, and works with businesses to reduce hazards before emergencies happen.

Success isn’t measured only by the fires we respond to. It’s also measured by the fires that never happen.
