๐Ÿšจ ๐Ÿ”ฅ Suspect Arrested for Multiple Counts of Arson ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿšจ

Throughout the day on June 10, 2026, Woodland Police Department and Woodland Fire Department responded to multiple fires in the northeast portion of the City. As a result of the investigation conducted by both police and fire personnel, they were determined to be suspicious. Woodland Police Department worked in conjunction with Woodland Fire Department Investigators, reviewing surveillance video and collecting evidence related to the incidents. Through these collaborative investigative efforts, investigators were able to identify a suspect connected to the fires.

In the evening hours, a Woodland Police Officer on patrol in the area saw a column of smoke in the area of Churchill Downs Avenue and Santa Anita Drive. An officer saw a person matching the description from earlier eventsโ€”41-year-old Amy Dorsey of Woodlandโ€”walking away from the fire. When the officer attempted to contact Dorsey, she fled on foot before surrendering to the officer. As a result of all investigations, Dorsey was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for multiple counts of arson.

Although an arrest has been made, the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information related to these incidents is encouraged to contact Woodland Fire Department Investigations at (530) 661-5857 or the Woodland Police Department at (530) 661-7800. (RB)

๐Ÿšจ FINAL UPDATE โ€“ STRUCTURE FIRE ON WEST STREET ๐Ÿšจ

As of this time, the fire has been extinguished, all fire crews have cleared the scene, and all roadways have been reopened to traffic.

The Woodland Fire Department would like to thank our partners at the Woodland Police Department, City of Woodland Public Works, and the City of Woodland Water Department for their assistance during this incident. Their support helped ensure a safe and coordinated response.

We would also like to thank the community for its patience and cooperation while emergency crews worked in the area.

As previously reported, no residents were home at the time of the fire. Tragically, three family pets were lost despite the lifesaving efforts of firefighters and AMR personnel. Our thoughts remain with the family during this difficult time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Residential Structure Fire Claims Three Family Pets

On June 2, 2026, Woodland Fire Department crews responded to a working residential structure fire in the 1000 block of West Street.

Firefighters arrived to find an active fire and immediately initiated an aggressive interior fire attack. Crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control and prevent further damage to the residence.

No occupants were home at the time of the fire. During search operations, firefighters located three cats inside the residence and removed them from the home. Firefighters and AMR personnel worked together to provide emergency care, including CPR and oxygen resuscitation efforts. Despite those efforts, all three cats succumbed to their injuries.

This is a heartbreaking outcome for the family and for the first responders who worked tirelessly to save the animals. Our thoughts are with the residents as they cope with the loss of their beloved pets.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Yesterday, the members of Woodland Fire Explorer Post 911 showcased the skills they have worked hard to develop throughout the year during their annual Family Day event.

Friends and family had the opportunity to watch the Explorers participate in a simulated house fire scenario, demonstrating fireground operations, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Their professionalism, confidence, and dedication were on full display, and they did an outstanding job.

Woodland Fire Explorer Post 911 is a valuable community asset that helps young people throughout Yolo County develop leadership skills, character, responsibility, and a commitment to service. Through hands-on training and mentorship, our Explorers gain real-world experience while building the skills and ethics needed to become successful leaders and community members.

We are incredibly proud of each and every Explorer and grateful to the advisors, firefighters, and families who support this program.

๐Ÿ‘ One Incident, Many Partners ๐Ÿ‘

Complex incidents often involve more than one City department.

Whether itโ€™s a fire investigation, a hazardous building, a special event, or a community concern, the Fire Department coordinates with Planning, Building, Code Enforcement, Information Technology (IT), Police, Public Works, and other partners to assess risk and take action.

Collaboration keeps responses effective and communities safer.๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŒณ
