Women — whom Democrats are trying to distract with the specter of a "war on women" — should consider this important question, and what it says about the policies that have been advanced during the past four years.

Are you better off than you were four years ago? Women—who Democrats are trying to distract with the specter of a "war on women"—should consider this important question, and what it says about the policies that have been advanced during the past four years.

NCFRW PRESIDENT SCHOCKETT SLAMS CONGRESS FOR SLAMMING DOOR IN OUR FACE!

September 15, 2012 Nassau County, NY: This past Thursday, September 13, 2012, the House of Representatives sent a Continuing Resolution to the Senate, which passed 329-91. The six-month Resolution calls for full funding for the Affordable Care Act.

Nassau County Federation of Republican Women Ann Salpeter Schockett expressed her extreme displeasure for and disappointment in those elected Representatives, "who chose to avoid making a stand because of the upcoming November elections. These are the decisions our officials in Washington, DC are supposed to make as both leaders and representatives of the People's wishes! The count of 91 against when the majority of Americans do NOT want Obamacare is a disgrace!!

Schockett continued, "The current Administration has done just about everything to diminish the strength and excellence of our country within our borders and our prominence and standing across the world. It is up to our Representatives to listen carefully to the needs and desires of its electorate. If this election is truly about the path our country is about to take, we cannot allow days and weeks and months to go by before we take a stand to correct terrible mistakes. Our country was founded on many great beliefs including free speech, a free market and small, limited government. We cannot allow an elite few to rewrite our founding principles."

Happy Flag Day!

Happy Flag Day!

Today, Thursday, June 14, is Flag Day, commemorating the adoption of the flag of the United States of America by the Second Continental Congress in 1777. It's part of National Flag Week.

We Americans have been celebrating Flag day since the late 1800s.

Here are some fun flag facts with a few famous, and not so famous, folks:
President Woodrow Wilson first officially proclaimed June 14 as Flag Day in 1916. Then, in August 1949, an Act of Congress established National Flag Day.

Legend has it that Betsy Ross was a seamstress who often made clothes for George Washington, and that in 1776, he asked her to sew the country's first flag. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Not quite...

USflag.org states that Francis Hopkinson should get the credit for the design of our first flag. A patriot, lawyer and congressman from New Jersey, he was appointed to the Continental Navy Board in 1776 and four years later put forth in writing that he had actually designed the first U.S. flag. Claims by relatives of Betsy Ross, an upholsterer who occasionally did sew flags, that she created the U. S. flag did not appear until one hundred years later.

After witnessing the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland, Francis Scott Key wrote the lyrics to our national anthem. He was said to have been inspired by the sight of our American flag illuminated by the "red glare" of British incendiaries.

In 1914, Secretary of the Interior Franklin K. Lane delivered a Flag Day address in which he quoted the flag as if it had spoken to him directly. He said,
"I am what you make me; nothing more. I swing before your eyes as a bright gleam of color, a symbol of yourself."

Forbes: The most ominous sign of possible things to come appeared on March 16, 2012, when President Obama signed executive order 13603 about “National Defense Resources Preparedness.”

This 10-page document is a blueprint for a federal takeover of the economy that would dwarf the looming Obamacare takeover of the health insurance business...

President Obama has made clear that he’s determined to continue pushing his “progressive” agenda, regardless of constitutional limitations on his power. He aims to have his way by issuing more and more executive orders.
