📚✨ Celebrating the power of student voice at Hewlett High School!

Students in Caitlin Rubin's ENL class recently earned special recognition in Scholastic Action magazine's national "Tell Us Your True Teen Story" contest. Gabriel Terraza Pu was named a runner-up, while Cristian Mendez Venegas, Miguel Moran Genis, Robysson Pierre, Roberta Regil Marroquin, and Tair Zaburov received honorable mentions for their outstanding submissions.

In recognition of their achievements, members of the Scholastic Action editorial team visited HHS to meet the students and celebrate their work firsthand.

This honor also reflects Ms. Rubin's ongoing commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for her students. Through her dedication and encouragement, HHS students have earned recognition from Scholastic Action year after year.

Congratulations to these talented writers and to Ms. Rubin for helping their voices be heard! 🎉🐾

🎓 A Morning of Celebration and Achievement

On June 5, George W. Hewlett High School’s Class of 2026 Valedictorian, Shane Zamidar, and Salutatorian, Darren Chen, were honored at the Nassau County Council of School Superintendents’ annual Celebrating Excellence Breakfast at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

The event recognizes Nassau County’s top academic scholars and celebrates the dedication, perseverance, and achievements that have distinguished them throughout their high school careers. Joined by their families, Superintendent Dr. Dina Anzalone, Interim Principal Dr. Al Bauer, fellow honorees, and school leaders from across Nassau County, Shane and Darren were recognized among the county’s highest-achieving students.

👏 Hewlett-Woodmere is incredibly proud of Shane and Darren for this well-deserved recognition and for representing our District with excellence, leadership, and academic distinction. Congratulations on this remarkable achievement!

Last night, FECC families enjoyed a special evening at the Long Island Children's Museum, which opened exclusively and free of charge for the school community. Students proudly shared their artwork on display, explored the museum, and participated in engaging STEAM workshops.
