During the week of April 26 - May 3, we proudly recognize “Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters,” a time when homes, fire departments, and landmarks across the country are illuminated in red to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

We encourage our community to join us in this meaningful tribute by lighting your homes in red and taking a moment to remember the brave men and women who gave everything to protect others.

Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten. ❤️🚒

🚨 Red Flag Warning in Effect Today 🚨

Due to dry conditions and increased fire risk, a Red Flag Warning has been issued for our area. Please remember that NO open burning is allowed during this time.

Even small fires can quickly get out of control under these conditions. Help keep our community, homes, and first responders safe by following the burn ban and avoiding any activities that could spark a fire.

As we approach a nice stretch of weather and spring clean up is on your mind, please remember that we are still in the NYS Burn Ban until May 14, 2026.

This means you cannot burn:
• Leaves
• Brush
• Tree limbs and branches
• Yard debris of any kind
• Garbage or household trash
• Construction debris (wood, shingles, etc)
• Treated or painted wood
• Plastics or rubber

🔥 Important: Even though small campfires and cooking fires are generally allowed, they must be:
• Contained (fire pit, ring, or small area)
• No larger than 3 feet high and 4 feet wide
• Never left unattended

Let’s all do our part to prevent wildfires and keep our community safe. 🚒

Open burning is the single greatest cause of wildfires in NYS. Since the spring burn ban was implemented in 2009, the number of wildfires has decreased by more than 40%.
