Ohio voters can expect to receive an absentee ballot application in the mail ahead of the November General Election. The State Controlling Board recently authorized the Ohio Secretary of State to send absentee ballot applications to every registered voter in Ohio. The first batch of applications expected to begin arriving in voters’ mailboxes around Labor Day.

Receiving an application does not mean you are automatically receiving an absentee ballot.

Voters who wish to vote by mail will need to complete and return the absentee ballot application according to the instructions provided. Be sure to review the information carefully and keep an eye on important election deadlines. Absentee ballot applications can be mailed in or dropped off at the Monroe County Board of Elections office. Please remember that it can take awhile for mail to get from one place to another so the sooner the application is returned the better. Mailing of absentee ballots to voters who have submitted a completed absentee ballot application will begin on October 6.

If you do not wish to complete the absentee ballot application, simply dispose of the application.

Whatever your preferred method of voting: by mail, early in person (starts October 6 at the Monroe County Board of Elections Office), or at polling locations on Election Day (Tuesday November 3) , make a plan to make your voice heard. There are several state and local races on the ballot.

You are also welcome to call the Monroe County Board of Elections at 740-472-0929 or stop by the office between 8AM and 4PM Monday through Friday with any questions.

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose shared information about Issue 3 -General Assembly Initiated Constitutional Amendment to require voters to present photo identification in order to vote which will be on the ballot this November.

YOUTH AT THE BOOTH
In 2005, Ohio law was amended to allow 17-year-old and 18-year-old high school students to participate as poll workers, giving young people a greater role in our democratic process. Youth At The Booth gives students a real-life civics lesson in the voting process. At the same time, it provides them with a meaningful community service activity. We encourage our Monroe County students to become involved.

The Monroe County Board of Elections Office will coordinate this project. High school students who are age 17 or older will have the opportunity to participate as official poll workers, even if they are not 18 at the time of the election. Students will be paid for training if they are placed at a polling location for the Election Day.

For the November 3, 2026 General Election we would like to have all Youth at the Booth participants to be signed up by September 30, 2026.

Semi Annual Campaign Finance Reports are due next Friday, July 31, 2026 by 4PM EST.

Questions about reports should be directed to Ohio Secretary of State's office via online form or call 877-SOS-OHIO.

Reports can be submitted online or turned into the Board of Elections office. Instructions can be found at https://www.ohiosos.gov/elections/campaign-finance .
