On April 4th, Woodside firefighters and AMR responded to a medical emergency at a local construction site involving a worker in cardiac arrest. Through rapid intervention, teamwork, and immediate actions by coworkers on scene, the patient was successfully revived and is making a full recovery.

Today, our firefighters were honored to attend a luncheon with the crew members whose quick actions helped save their coworker’s life. Strong outcomes like this are made possible through teamwork, training, and a community willing to step in and help.

Huge Congratulations on a Well-Earned Retirement, Chief Cuschieri!

We are proud to announce the retirement of our Fire Chief, Tom Cuschieri, following an incredible 28 years of dedicated service to the Woodside Fire Protection District.

Chief Cuschieri’s journey with Woodside began in 1992 as a cadet, and in 1997 he was hired as a Firefighter/Paramedic. His commitment, work ethic, and leadership led to his promotion to Captain in 2007, a role he served in for 12 years. He later advanced to Training Chief, was promoted to Deputy Chief in 2022, and ultimately concluded his distinguished career as Fire Chief.

Throughout every role, Chief Cuschieri led with integrity, heart, and a genuine love for this department. He has been a mentor, a leader, and, most importantly, a great guy who always put people first. His impact, leadership, and legacy will be felt for generations to come.

Thank you, Chief, for your unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and service. Your mark on this department is permanent, and your presence will always be part of Woodside Fire.

Wishing you nothing but happiness, health, and new adventures in retirement.

A huge congratulations is in order as we proudly welcome Firefighter Dodson and Firefighter Healy to the Woodside Fire family. This evening, they successfully completed their in-service Fire Academy, an accomplishment that reflects months of hard work, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the fire service.

Completing the academy is no small feat. It requires resilience, teamwork, and a dedication to mastering both the physical and mental demands of the job. Firefighters Dodson and Healy have demonstrated a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a clear commitment to serving the community with professionalism and integrity.

We are proud of the effort they have put forth and the standards they upheld throughout the academy. Woodside Fire is fortunate to add two motivated and capable firefighters to our ranks, and we look forward to watching them continue to grow, serve, and make a positive impact as members of our department.

Congratulations to both of you on this well-earned milestone, and welcome to the Woodside Fire family.

Nothing like neighbors showing up, rolling up their sleeves, and getting real work done 💪🌲

We had an awesome community volunteer work day at the Red Shed in Los Trancos Woods with about a dozen volunteers teaming up with Woodside Fire Protection District’s Fuel Mitigation Crew. Together, we pulled broom, cleared ditches, cut hazardous trees and brush, and wrapped it all up with a full chip at the end of the day.

This is what wildfire risk reduction looks like—boots on the ground, community-driven, and making a real difference in the places we love. Huge thanks to everyone who came out and put in the work. It matters.
