6/30/26 UPDATE: The National Weather Service has extended the Heat Warning for our area through at least Thursday.
---
A Heat Advisory is in effect for McHenry County from noon today through 10PM Wednesday, with heat index values expected to reach around 105 degrees each afternoon. These conditions can be dangerous, especially for anyone without access to air‑conditioning.

We’ve partnered with the McHenry County Emergency Management Agency to share the updated list of cooling centers open throughout the county. If you need a safe, air‑conditioned place to cool down, please review the available locations.
Remember to drink plenty of water, limit time outdoors, stay out of direct sun, and check on neighbors who may need assistance. Never leave children or pets in vehicles.

Stay updated on available cooling centers at bit.ly/ema-seasonal-awareness.

So excited this news is out there! I want to personally thank everyone who wrote and submitted a letter of support, I’m told it was those letters that put Woodstock over the edge :)

GREAT NEWS: Last year, the City of Woodstock IL- City Hall applied for a Safe Routes to Schools grant from the State of Illinois and asked for D200's help providing data to improve pedestrian routes for Mary Endres and Northwood students along Route 47. The City was recently awarded $250,000 to start work next spring! This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is greater than words can ever fully express.

No matter where we may stand politically or personally, I believe we can all agree on one thing: our service members are the true celebrities among us. They and their families carry burdens and sacrifices many will never fully understand.

As the daughter, mother, partner, and sister of veterans, this day is deeply personal to me. Today, we remember those we have lost while also celebrating and supporting the veterans who are still with us — the ones who continue to serve our communities long after their military service ends.

As long as I am able, I will continue to proudly participate as an elected official in Woodstock’s amazing Memorial Day tradition — standing alongside our community to honor those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy today.

May we never take their courage, sacrifice, and dedication for granted.

Wishing everyone a meaningful and reflective Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

Spread the word and wish for spring

Spread the word and wish for spring

Warmer weather is on the way and Spring Break is just around the corner!

As more people head outside and e-bikes and other electric devices become more popular, we wanted to share some important safety information.

The Illinois Secretary of State has launched a statewide e-bike and micro mobility safety initiative aimed at keeping riders, pedestrians, and drivers safe. This effort focuses on education, awareness, and making sure everyone understands the rules of the road as these devices become more common across Illinois.

As part of the initiative, a new public education website — www.ilsos.gov/oneroad
— serves as a central hub for micro mobility safety, rules, and policy updates. The site explains what micro mobility is, identifies common devices, and outlines how they are regulated. A dedicated “Know the Rules” section breaks existing laws down into clear, easy-to-understand guidance for riders, parents, drivers, educators, and local officials.

📖 Learn more about the statewide initiative here:

Let’s all enjoy the spring weather safely and responsibly — whether you’re riding, walking, or driving.

Once again, McHenry County College is inviting the public to its annual People in Need Forum to learn about the abundance of resources and support available for county residents needing assistance.

The forum takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at the college, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

Exhibitors and speakers will cover issues such as immigration, senior care, caregiver resources, food insecurity, mental health, employment and more. Besides helping people seeking assistance, the forum is an excellent resource and networking opportunity for social service agencies, faith-based organizations, civic groups, law enforcement, elected officials and others.
