There are big elections coming up in Florida, this year (although all elections are important). One of the best ways to improve Democrats’ chances is to encourage registered Democrats to enroll in or renew their Vote by Mail. Enrolling in Vote by Mail doesn’t mean that voters are required to vote with a mail-in ballot. It gives them the OPTION to vote that way. And whether citizens choose to vote in person or by mail, they are twice as likely to vote than people who are not enrolled in VBM. So let’s do our best to encourage Florida voter engagement! Write for Vote by Mail!

Abby is, for the moment, out of addresses. I do not know whether that means when she’s up and running we’ll have more Florida VBM or some other campaign. In either case, Tony is definitely on it. Please make it a habit to request addresses BEFORE writing the cards. Thanks!

Do you use Florida imagery and/or colors on your Vote by Mail cards? Or do you keep them more universally vote-related? Are you a straightforward writer in plain black or blue? Do you write the script without embellishment, or add additional talking points? There are many ways to be a writer for PtV, which is what makes our cards individualistic and effective. A reminder of why it’s important to write for Florida Vote by Mail: Florida voters who are enrolled in Vote by Mail, whether they choose to vote in person or by mail, are TWICE as likely to vote as people who are not enrolled. Postcards to Voters only writes to registered Democrats to encourage them to take part. The boost in sign-up as our cards reach the intended households, county by county as we write, is immediate, and dramatic.

Currently, enrollment expires right after the general election, so depending on when voters reenrolled, or enrolled for the first time, one sign-up can last for up to two years. I discovered when I moved to Florida six years ago, that there can be at least as many as three elections in a year, so being enrolled for two years can cover quite a lot of elections, depending on what local or special elections take place.

Voters have the option to request notification by text, email, voicemail, or all, of when their county Election Commission receives the mail-in ballot. It’s very satisfying and reassuring to receive a message from your Election Commission saying, “Your vote has been received and counted.”

If we are going to flip Florida blue, again, it will take persistent grassroots effort like ours. Thank you for taking part in bolstering the Florida Democratic vote!
