The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District is currently establishing an eligibility list for Non-Career Firefighter/EMTs and Firefighter/Paramedics.

Interested candidates have until October 26 to complete the required written examination, with all application materials due by November 5.

Woodstock, you helped us fill the boot in a big way!

After four days of Fill the Boot, our members and their families raised an incredible $10,552.02 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association!

Every dollar collected goes to MDA to support research, care and advocacy for people living with muscular dystrophy, ALS and other neuromuscular diseases. Our members and families volunteered their time throughout both weekends, and we couldn’t have reached this total without the generosity of our community.

A special thank you to FF/PM Andrew Richardson for organizing this year’s Fill the Boot, and to everyone who gave their time to make it a success.

Thank you, Woodstock, for every dollar, handful of change and filled boot.

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the early 1990s! These moments capture members of Woodstock’s former fire and rescue agencies coming together for a Fire Safety Festival on the Woodstock Square, sharing important fire prevention lessons with families throughout the community.

As we begin National Fire Prevention Month, it’s a fitting look back at a tradition that has been part of the Woodstock fire service for decades. The uniforms, apparatus and agency names may have changed, but the commitment to keeping our community safe continues today.

You may have seen some familiar faces holding boots around Woodstock this past weekend, but here’s something you may not know about Fill the Boot.

Our members and their families volunteer their time, and every dollar collected benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association, not the fire district. Fill the Boot is a fire service tradition dating back more than 70 years, when firefighters first rallied to help families affected by muscular dystrophy. Today, MDA supports research, care and advocacy for people living with muscular dystrophy, ALS and other neuromuscular diseases.

Thank you to everyone who helped fill the boot this weekend, and keep an eye out for us around Woodstock again next weekend!

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District will be conducting training in the 200 block of E. Calhoun St. over the next couple of weeks.

Residents and businesses may see fire apparatus, firefighters in full protective equipment, and artificial smoke being used as part of our training exercises. While there may be increased fire department activity in the area, there will be no direct impact to traffic.

Realistic training environments help ensure our crews are prepared to respond safely and effectively when our community needs us. Thank you for your understanding and continued support!

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember. 🇺🇸

First responders, families, and members of our community came together at the McHenry County Fairgrounds for our 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Participants climbed the equivalent of 110 stories, representing the height of the World Trade Center towers and honoring the firefighters who climbed those stairs on September 11, 2001.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, whether you climbed, supported someone along the way, or simply came to remember. We also want to recognize Firefighter/Paramedic Tyler Webster, who played a major role in organizing and bringing this meaningful event together.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District was honored to take part in the Ride to Remember, commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

A large American flag suspended from our ladder truck marked the start of the procession at Woodstock Harley-Davidson. Woodstock joined members of the Village of Oak Brook Fire Department, Huntley Fire Protection District and Union Fire Protection District as part of the procession, which was led by the helmet of FDNY Chaplain Father Mychal Judge, a powerful symbol of remembrance for all those lost on September 11.

We were proud to stand alongside fellow first responders, riders and community members as we honored the lives lost and the sacrifices made 25 years ago.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual Open House! We enjoyed welcoming our community into the Station 3 for an afternoon of demonstrations, station tours, apparatus displays and a closer look at the work our crews do every day.

A special thank you to Lt. Eric Kristensen, who put countless hours into planning and organizing this year’s event, along with all of our members who helped make the day possible. We also appreciate Northwestern Medicine for joining us with resources for our community and LifeNet for making a visit with their helicopter.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who stopped by and spent part of their Saturday with us. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we enjoyed having you!
