All six CCSD traditional high schools again earned recognition as AP STEM and AP STEM Achievement Schools, and as AP Humanities and AP Humanities Achievement Schools. Five schools – Creekview HS, Etowah HS, River Ridge HS, Sequoyah HS and Woodstock HS – additionally earned AP School of Distinction Honors. Etowah High School for the first time also earned AP Access & Support Schools recognition.

Dayton Creekmore at Etowah High School recently earned a prestigious placement in the nationally competitive NASA SEES (STEM Enhancement in Earth Science) Summer Internship Program hosted by the University of Texas Center for Space Research in Houston, Texas. Selected from applicants across the world, Dayton was chosen based on his academic achievements, written essays, recommendations, and exceptional passion for STEM and space exploration.

During the program, he will work directly with NASA scientists, engineers, and aerospace professionals while participating in authentic research projects using real NASA mission data. As part of the internship, Dayton will also develop coding and data analysis skills through Python programming while collaborating with experts in fields such as astronomy, aerospace engineering, planetary science, and Earth science research. This highly selective opportunity is an incredible accomplishment that reflects Dayton’s intelligence, dedication, and genuine enthusiasm for the future of science and space exploration.
