Woodstock Public Library District "An open door to knowledge and enjoyment for the whole community." We are part of the Mid Hudson Library System: http://www.midhudson.org

Structure of the Library:
The Woodstock Public Library District was created by Chapter 499 of the Laws of 1989 (New York State). The district is governed by a publicly elected eleven member board of trustees. The term of office is five years. Candidates run at large. The annual election to fill board vacancies is held on the first Thursday in September. Prospective board members must petition for

candidacy. Eligibility to vote in the Library District election is based on eligibility to vote in the Woodstock town elections. History:
The Woodstock Library was established in 1913 in a converted barn. A budget of $40 paid for some bookshelves, a few chairs, and a coal stove; the books were donated.

This one is for the animal lovers! Local writer Stephanie Wilson Medlock joins us for a conversation about her new book, An Improbable Companion, with special guest animal communicator Cindy Brody! Friday, August 28th at 4pm.

Can a dog help you solve your biggest problems? When the protagonist finds a husky on the doorstep of her caretaker’s cottage she has no idea that his arrival will set in motion events that will change her life.

Stephanie Wilson Medlock is an author, storyteller and reviewer. An Improbable Companion is Medlock’s second novel of magical realism, her first, The Lives of Things, is a tale of adventure and drama about women.

Cindy Brody is an Animal Communicator and Reiki Master. During the last three decades she has helped animals and their people in all stages of life through communication and energy work.

Happening today at 1pm in the Kids Activity Room: Summer Reading Finale - Hands-on Archaeology with our friends from the Mohonk Preserve that features artifacts from the Hudson Valley region! Participants will be able to touch, investigate, and discover the materials of daily Iroquois and Algonquin life. Learn about the chronology of projectile points, various tools and their functions, the reconstruction of artifacts and more. Participants will never again look at the ground in the same way!
Best suited for ages 8+, but all are welcome.
We will have themed snacks afterwards! Hope to see you there!

And then at 1pm, our friends from Hudson Valley Bee Habitat will be here with an Art Journey About the Honeybee using watercolors and beeswax.
