The Town of Woodstock is hiring a Part-Time Assessor (20 hrs/week at $31.85/hr)!

We’re looking for candidates with experience in real property valuation, appraisal, or real estate to help maintain fair property assessments, handle exemptions, and work directly with local residents.

High School Diploma + 2 years of relevant experience in real property valuation.

Week of August 17–23, 2026

Here's a look at some of the work happening at Town Hall this week.

New Town Employees Onboarded
The Town welcomed a new Acting Town Clerk and a new Code Enforcement Officer this week. The Supervisor's Office also began testing new onboarding procedures as the employees came on board.

Woodstock Bear Wise Committee Established
The Town officially transitioned the Bear Task Force into a permanent Woodstock Bear Wise Committee, allowing the community's work on bear safety and education to continue.

Improving Town Employee Onboarding & Offboarding
The Supervisor's Office is developing standardized checklists for onboarding and offboarding employees, including responsibilities for email, computers, IT access, and other essential steps. The goal is to create a consistent process rather than starting from scratch every time someone joins or leaves the Town.

Accessible Parking
Working with the Police Department and an accessibility expert in the community to draft legislation that will increase the fine for violations of accessible parking rules. The current fine is $25; the proposed legislation would increase the first offense to $100.

Courthouse Mold Remediation
The Town has received an assessment of the courthouse mold problem and is now receiving multiple quotes for remediation work.

Exploring the Future of the Old Library
The Supervisor's Office visited the Old Library as part of Project Regeneration to learn more about plans for the property, including affordable housing, energy-efficient renovation of historic buildings, potential new construction, and possible solar power.

Week of August 10–16, 2026

Here's a look at some of the work happening at Town Hall this week.

Courthouse Mold Remediation Moving Forward
After discovering significant mold at the courthouse associated with years of roof leakage, the Supervisor's Office began the process of addressing the problem. An assessment is being scheduled and several mold remediation companies are being contacted so that a remediation plan can be developed and the work can move forward as quickly as possible.

A Plan to Correct an Accessible Parking Problem
The Supervisor's Office worked with the Highway Department to address an accessible parking space on Mill Hill Road that is blocking a resident's driveway. A plan is now in place to move the space so that it complies with the law.

Creating a Woodstock Bear Wise Committee
The Bear Task Force is being transitioned into a permanent Woodstock Bear Wise Committee so the Town can continue its work on bear safety and community education. The group is also exploring educational events, including a possible bear-focused movie night and a presentation with a DEC bear biologist.

Strengthening Town Maintenance & Project Management
The Supervisor's Office is looking at how the Town handles building maintenance and larger maintenance projects, including creating clear responsibility for identifying problems, getting estimates, and making sure repairs are completed. The goal is a more proactive approach to maintaining Town buildings and infrastructure.

•Continue work on restructuring Town maintenance and project management.
•Develop a policy for how artwork is displayed in Town buildings and public spaces, with the goal of creating a fair process that gives local artists an equal opportunity to participate.

Week of August 3–9, 2026

Here's a look at some of the work happening at Town Hall this week.

✅ Completed

Big Deep Gets Its First Cleanup
Town maintenance completed a first-pass cleanup at Big Deep, removing accumulated trash and debris. The Highway Department is now working with the Supervisor's Office on additional improvements, including addressing potholes.

Woodstock Welcomes the Peace Run
Woodstock welcomed the international Peace Run this week. The runners visited local children, who shared artwork and messages about peace, before continuing their journey through the community.

Planning for a Better Town Vehicle Fleet
The Supervisor's Office met with the Highway Department to begin developing a town-wide approach to vehicle purchasing and maintenance. The goal is to move from replacing vehicles reactively to having a proactive plan for maintaining and rotating the Town's fleet.

Route 212 Planning Continues
The Supervisor's Office met with the Department of Transportation, Water Department, and Flood Advisory Committee to continue coordination on the Route 212 project. Discussions covered bridges, water mains, communications, culverts, water flow, and updated hydrology reports.

Looking at the Cost of Sludge Removal
The Town is evaluating options to reduce the cost of removing sludge while planning for the infrastructure needs of a growing community.

Improving the Dog Park
The Woodstock Rotary Club has begun helping clean up and improve the dog park. Volunteers have already cleaned and stained signs and posts and cleared vegetation, with additional work to come.

•Continue planning for improvements at Big Deep and other public swimming areas.
•Continue work on a town-wide vehicle maintenance and replacement plan.
•Advance discussions around lower-cost sludge removal.
•Follow up on an illegally placed accessible parking space that is blocking a resident's driveway and work toward a solution.
