Salem County Vocational Technical Schools Do you have any ideas on how to improve SCVTS ? Check out the latest discussions! Professional development programs are also offered on a regional basis.

The Salem County Vocational Technical Schools (SCVTS) serve over 8,500 county residents annually through a variety of educational programs and services. SCVTS offers a wide range of academy, career and technical education, career orientation and special education programs. These programs are offered on both a full-time and shared-time basis in cooperation and partnership with the county’s elementa

ry and secondary schools, local and regional colleges and universities, and with an array of business partners. The Board of Education provides career and technical education opportunities for students at the Salem County Career and Technical High School in a campus setting. Students may choose from fourteen career and technical education and the career orientation program opportunities that are offered at this site. The district operates the Salem County Arts, Science and Technology Academies in partnership with four county high schools. The academy programs consist of full-time specialized theme programs that are operated in cooperation with Penns Grove High School, Pennsville Memorial High School, Schalick High School and Woodstown High School. Through the district’s Career and Customized Education Center adult, apprentice, community, continuing and customized education programs are offered. The CCEC is primarily designed to meet the needs of county employers and employees. Through the CCEC a variety of management, computer software application, mechanical and safety training programs are offered. The District also operates the New Jersey Regional Day School at Mannington. This school serves low-incident and multiply-handicapped students from Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem Counties. As students progress, they are prepared for functional living and employment through prevocational training and transitional services. As appropriate, students may be included in the Career Orientation Program and/or career and technical education programs that are available at the Salem County Career and Technical High School. The Salem County School Based Youth Services Center is a service the district operates for in and out of school at risk youth. Its mission is to enrich and enhance the lives of the youth of Salem County by providing services and programs which will increase the likelihood of these students completing their education. The SBYSC is supported through a grant from the New Jersey Department of Human Services. The School Based program is available to all Salem County youth. All district programs are designed for students to receive the best possible education to prepare them for employment, for higher education leading to employment and for life-long learning. Student achievement and success is the basis for all board and management decisions and for the selection of learning theories and teaching styles that are utilized in the school district.

Earlier this week, we celebrated our friend and co-worker Bonnie Baker who will be retiring at the conclusion of this school year. For 26 years, Bonnie has faithfully served SCVTS as the Supervisor of Marketing & Public Information. During that time, she has been instrumental in establishing relationships and business partnerships within the Salem County community that have been invaluable to our school district. Enjoy your well-earned retirement, Bonnie, and don't be a stranger!!
