We have received some suggestions for Events at the club for 2026. If you have ideas other then listed please reach out to Ann Dodge via email
22 Marksman Challenge - This from the Alder Brook Gun Club Site.
Events to be held the last Sunday of each month, 10-noon or so. This will be a 22LR only event. Firing positions will be from the prone, or bench rest where permissible. Supports will be attached, bipod and rear bag support only. No mechanical rests. Targets will be the following:
Aspirin at 50 yards
Turns tablets at 100 yards
Lolli-pops at 50 yards
Steel (we can't do steel targets at AVFG so a substitution will have to be made for this) at 100 yards, 150 and 200 yards.
100 rounds of ammo and $10 in your pocket should be all that you need to complete this fun, no pressure event.
Black Powder Day(s)
Black Powder / Muzzle loader shooting at targets, silhouettes, balloons.
A Shooting Day Event
Focused on family participation and some competitve events. Include Safety and Fi****ms Education, Basic Shooting, a Youth Hunter Challenge that introduces hunting ethics and responsibilities, and some wildlife identification.
A competition event - 22 LR or Shotgun.
Plinker Fun Shoots
22 Plinker Shoots at 50 yards. Open sights group as well as a group for 12 power or less scopes. Soft bag or Sand bag Rests.
Hand Gun Fun Shoots
Youth Class, Ladies Class, Revolver and or Semi Auto hand guns.
Cowboy Action Fun Shoots
Meant to introduce people to Cowboy Action shooting. The fi****ms used and the targets.
Kids Fishing Derby Day Additions
These suggested by a 4-H Club member to add to the day.
Casting Instruction and Practice
Magnet Fishing for young kids
Fish Identification
Bug Identification - What do the fish like to eat for bugs?
Egg Shoot
The Egg shoot at 200 yards is still on the suggestion list.
Summer and Fall New Hunter Days
Event to introduce New / Beginning Hunters to the wildlife identification, best practices and Hunting seasons. Archery and Rifle Hunting.
If you have any other events or activities you would like to have at the club, please send us your suggestion.
More work is planned for the Archery area in hopes to also include Archery Events at the club.
