Tyler County Republicans:
Folks, I can't' say this enough. Whether you're in the John Cornyn arena or the Ken Paxton Arena, you must get out Tuesday the 26th and vote. Your vote is crucial in this race. If you believe that Talarico can't win in November, let me break it down for you.
There are 6.6 million registered Republicans, and 8.2 million Democrats in the State of Texas. They have us outnumbered and they are out voting us this Primary season. If we go into the November midterms and don't take this election seriously, we are in a lot of trouble.
People don't take the midterms seriously enough and the politicians count on that. This past Primary election we had 2.3 million Democrat voters, while the Republicans had 2.1 million voters here in Texas. With that kind of turnout, James Talarico could very well pull off and upset, and that's what the Democrats are counting on. They are geared up, while we are not stepping up. Every vote this election season is crucial to the survival of our party. These runoff elections are crucial to our party.
Right now, we are in a runoff for several offices.
The Senate, The Attorney General, and the Rail Commissioners races are critical. Are you willing to let a handful of people decide how we move forward in the State of Texas?
Your vote counts and your vote is important. While our Early voting numbers looked promising here in Tyler County, the State numbers are a little more depressing. Tyler County is still only at 1/3 of the votes we had during the Primaries, we need a strong showing come Tuesday the 26th at the voting booths.
Thank you all for you attention on the matter, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

As many of you are waking up this morning, you're finding the speculation of Lucas Babin resigning and not running for re-election to be absolutely correct. You're also finding out why being involved in the political process is very important.
As Lucas Babin explained in his letter, the Republican County Chair and the Precinct Chairs of Tyler County are the ones who will select and decide on the Candidate that will replace, not just the DA, but also your Precinct 4 County Commissioner on the November Ballot.
Something like this is rare and this is probably the first time in Tyler County history that two offices have become vacate after the Primary Election. While it rarely happens, we see that it can and does happen. I was hoping for an easy Mid-Term election, but it wasn't meant to be.
Those intending to run for either office, need to meet with me and the County Executive Committee in the very near future, to discuss your qualifications and your plans to enhance the lives of your voters here in Tyler County. You have to convince the CEC why you're the best candidate for the job. We will also be taking input from the community on those candidates.
If there is anyone looking to fill those positions, they have until August 23rd to file their paperwork and filing fees with me and the County Clerk's Office. That's the deadline to file. All paperwork has to be Certified and turned into the Secretary of State's Office by August the 26th.
Thank you all for you attention on the matter, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

TYLER COUNTY – Tyler County's criminal district attorney Lucas Babin, who served two full terms as the county's top lawman, said he has, after much prayerful consideration, decided to not seek reelection to another four-year term.
Babin ran unopposed in the March Republican primary for the office, and said he plans to return to practicing law in private practice. Prior to winning the DA position in 2018, he worked for (now retired) attorney Lindsey Whisenhant.
"Throughout my time in office, my goal has been to seek justice for the citizens of Tyler County. My team and I have worked hard to bring positive change to our communities. I am proud of our work and accomplishments," he said.
In the two terms Babin served, much of his first term was spent tackling a large backlog of cases, and in 2020, he was hamstrung by the pandemic. However, in his time in office, the DA's office has successfully prosecuted a number of high-profile cases and added more personnel to its ranks, including a full-time investigator.
For the General Election ballot in November, the county's GOP chairman, Robert "Chappy" Poynter, along with the precinct chairs, will select a party nominee for the ballot. "I wish them every success," Babin said.
Babin said that he and his wife, Luciana, are preparing for a new life chapter "as empty nesters," which gave them both a window of perspective to make the decision. "Another four-year term is now not the best decision for our family," he said. The Babins' two sons are set the graduate high school next year.
"It has been an honor an privilege to serve you for the past eight years," Babin said. "I am profoundly grateful for the trust you placed in me and for the unwavering support from my family, friends and constituents."
He added that he looks forward to continuing to support the community in new ways.

Folks as your County Chair for the Republican Party of Tyler County, it grieves me to have to put this out there. We all know Buck Hudson passed away 2 weeks ago, may he Rest in Peace. Buck was the Precinct 4 County Commissioner and was running unopposed in the November Election. Buck Hudson did an outstanding job representing Precinct 4 as your County Commissioner for many years, he will be missed.
While the County Judge and the Commissioners court will appoint someone to fill out his term, we have to find a qualified candidate for the November election. We have a limited amount of time to fill the position and get the candidate on the November Ballot.
If there is anyone looking to fill that position, they have until August 23rd to file their paperwork and filing fees with me and the County Clerk's Office. That's the deadline to file. All paperwork has to be Certified and turned into the Secretary of State's Office by August the 26th.
If you intend to file for that position, please let me know well ahead of time, so that we know what to or not to expect. Expect to attend the Republican County Chair's meetings and meet with the Tyler County Republican Parties County Executive Committee. They will be the ones making the decision on who will end up on the November Ballot in accordance with the State of Texas Election Laws. Texas Election Code section 202.006. This is an unusual situation, and the CEC has not had to perform this task in many years or at all here in Tyler County. The CEC is made up of the Republican Party Chair and the Republican Party Precinct Chairs of Tyler County.
Thank you all for you attention on the matter, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.
