No better way to start off the week, then with music. Today we had the pleasure of having John Lynch all the way from Menomonie to entertain us. John sang all of our favorites from "White Sports Coat and a Pink Carnation" to John Denver's "County Roads". Thanks John we appreciate you starting off our week the best way possible.

Monday after National Nursing Home week is a tough one. But leave it to Johnny Keyz for once again hitting it out of the ball park. Johnny knows all our favorites from "White Sport Coat" to "Hallelujah". If you have never heard Johnny play you need to stop by Park View. He plays the 3rd Monday of every month at 10:45 am. Our residents love him and he puts on a great show! It's always a full house when Johnny is here!

Last Friday won't be complete without the Syttende Mai Car Cruise. The first stop is Park View and our residents are always so excited to see all the different cars. Of course it was a beautiful day for a car cruise. Thank you to Shelia for getting us all the information and Patrick for assisting the residents and handing out everything.

Friday was our "Back to the 50's" celebration day! We had staff dressed in Poddle skirts, jeans and t-shirts and even a beatnik! But to all our surprise "ELVIS" was in the house! WOW, he can still make us all scream and dancing in our seats! We heard the songs that we love so much. From "Love me Tender", to "Jail House Rock" and needless to say there were a couple of "jailbirds" in the house. But, leave it to Elvis to pick them right out. Oh we sure know how to Rock and Roll at Park View. We sang, we danced, we tapped our toes, clapped our hands and we still wanted the "Elvis" concert to continue! We can't wait till the next time he's in town doing a concert! We are getting front row seats.

Thursday of course was our Birthday party and we had 3 birthdays to celebrate. Happy Birthday to Benita, Fritz and Dallas! Jan surprised us with bringing in some students to perform their solos that they sang. We were all in 'AWE" as to their beautiful voices. Those that had birthdays had a truly special treat as these young ladies beautifully sang "Happy Birthday" to each of them! We sure do love our Birthday Parties!

Thursday was our "Farm" day. Everyone was so excited to see Fantasy Corral Petting Zoo show up. They were all set up and it was a beautiful day for going outside and seeing all the animals that they brought. I'm surprised that they managed to get all their lambs back home. Our residents really enjoyed holding them and lots of snuggles. They also brought with them an Alligator, African Bull Frog, a rabbit and a Llama. Not only did our residents enjoy the morning but Kids View joined in on the fun. A great time was had by all and they are already talking about next year and wondering what they will bring!

We all had the best time with "Pickles" the Clown last Wednesday. She did her world famous magic show for us and then walked around and visited residents who didn't come down. Pickles even made a couple of space Martian hats for a couple of our men! Then Pickles went down to Kids View and they enjoyed a magic show also. They had so many questions....like does your nose honk. Which was a really good question, because we found out that when Pickles is feeling good her nose doesn't honk. Phew, what a relief for us when she went to honk her nose....it didn't honk! Did you know that we even have a few clowns of our own? Yes, residents and staff had some red noses. Pickles was so excited to find some of her relatives!

Park View is very fortunate to have the Baldwin-Woodville service learning students come and volunteer every year. Not only did they come and help with multiple things like helping the day care kids blow bubbles, cleaning the ATV, giving manicures, picking rocks out of the lawn, filing, getting items ready for the parage...but the Jazz Band and Show Choir put on a concert for us. What an amazing group of students. Another great day with these students here. The Jazz Band played 5 numbers for us, including "Avenue Swing", "Moondance" and "Son of a Chicken". The Show Choir sang 4 songs, including, " Speechless", "Armor" and "I will Survive". Talk about talent! Thank you to everyone for a great day!

Tuesday was our concert/show tune dress up day. Beth Motola from River Falls arrived Tuesday morning and she played a variety of music from different musicals. We enjoyed "Oklahoma" , "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" and so many more. Staff wore t-shirts from Queen, Bon Jovi, Rolling Stones and Jelly Roll to name a few. Another great day during nursing home week!
