Burn ban lifted in Tyler County
Judge Powers ordered that the Burn Ban in Tyler County be lifted effective today, April 13, 2026.
He asked that all citizens exercise caution when burning outside by following safe burning practices, having a water source nearby when burning and never leave fires unattended.
Conditions can change quickly. Watch for future fire danger updates posted on Tyler County Emergency Management page.

🌸🚒 Dogwood Weekend is here! 🚒🌸

Come out and see The Shady Grove VFD set up! We’ve got snow cones, blooming onions, cotton candy, and cold drinks to keep you going all day long.

🎉 Don’t forget — the parade kicks off at 1:00 PM, so come early, grab a snack, and enjoy the festivities with us!

🌦️ Looks like we might get a little rain off and on, but we’re here enjoying it and making the most of the weekend!

At 6:00 PM, Shady Grove VFD was paged for mutual aid to assist White Tail Ridge VFD with a RV fire.

Shady Grove personnel responded and provided additional manpower for fire suppression and overhaul operations. Crews also deployed foam to ensure complete extinguishment and prevent rekindle.

Red Flag FIRE day in Tyler County today
RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a Red
Flag Warning for low humidity, gusty winds, and dry fuels, which
is in effect until 6 PM CST this evening.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 180 Tyler, Fire Weather Zone 201 Hardin,
Fire Weather Zone 259 Northern Jasper, Fire Weather Zone 260
Northern Newton, Fire Weather Zone 261 Southern Jasper and
Fire Weather Zone 262 Southern Newton.

* TIMING...Until 6 PM CST this evening.

* WINDS...South 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Up to 70.

* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread
quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Shady Grove VFD would like to sincerely apologize to our community for any inconvenience caused. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Shady Grove VFD Golf Tournament until further notice.

We truly appreciate the continued support, understanding, and encouragement from our community. Please know this event will be rescheduled, and we look forward to hosting a future tournament when the time is right.

Shady Grove VFD was dispatched at approximately 3:40 a.m. this morning to a reported residential structure fire on CR 2050.

Mutual aid was provided by White Tail Ridge VFD. At the time of the incident, the residence was unoccupied, and no injuries were reported.

Please use caution this morning if you travel down CR 2050 as we are still in the mop up stage.

UPDATE: Shady Grove VFD and Whitetail Ridge VFD finished mop up about 8:40 AM.
