While dogs are not allowed in the cave, they are more than welcome to enjoy our wonderful hiking trails! Just make sure that your good girl/boy has their most stylish leash on the whole time while they follow park rules and there is no telling what fun and safe adventures you could have! They could even become a Bark Ranger! Happy National Dog Day!

In one week, guest speaker Vicky "The Bat Lady" will be at Cathedral Caverns State Park to celebrate International Bat Night with a presentation that you would be batty to miss!! She will bring live native bats and Egyptian fruit bats for you to meet and there will be plenty of photo opportunities as she shows off the special flying mammals.

Schools have started back as the summer ebbs it's warmth into the barest hints of the early fall to come, and yet vibrant green hues abound on our trails here at Cathedral Caverns! Walk our Red Trail while you wait for your tour and peer into the giant sinkhole, or brave a longer expedition along the popular Blue Trail to remain grounded in nature even as the busy school season turns life's pace from a walk into a jog. Perhaps you have sat in its shade while visiting the park, or glanced upon its bark in curiosity, but this tree is a Shagbark Hickory! Shagbark hickory trees, best identified by their tattered looking bark, are a wonderful hang-out for bats! During the warm months, you might even be able to spot a bat by looking high up into the tree and just under the bark as they will often hide there for a day-time nap!

Delve into the depths of the cavern, frolic through deciduous forests, and let your creativity bloom all in the same park! Visitors really enjoyed the whimsy of our flower crown program last Saturday, making wonderful memories as they wove fresh flowers and string into crowns fit for a fairy. 1. Map out your visit.
2. Stick to established trails.
3. Keep the park clean. Don't litter!
4. Manage your campfires responsibly.
5. Respect local wildlife.
6. Be kind to fellow adventurers.
7. Leave nature items where they belong.
