We have received information of people receiving text messages stating they have a fine due today through the Municipal Court. The text message states if the fine is not paid today they will be charged an additional fee and/or have a warrant issued for their arrest.

The City of Woodward Municipal Court does not currently have the capability to contact people via text message.

Do not send money to these people.

The Woodward Police Dept. has received information that an unknown person has contacted residents representing themself as a City Of Woodward employee needing to enter their home to assess smoke damage from the recent fire incident. Smoke damage is not assessed by ANY government agency. If you receive a call of this nature do not allow these people into your home. Please report any such calls to the Police Dept. so we can investigate them.

All evacuated areas except for the area south of Downs Ave. and west of 34th St. have had the evacuation order lifted. Evacuation shelters previously posted will remain open to any resident that is in need.

If you live south of Oklahoma Ave. and West of 22nd St. you need to evacuate due to wildfires approaching town. If you are leaving from this area you need to go east or south.

The Red Cross will have the Pioneer Room open as a warming center for stranded motorists and Woodward residents that experience heating issues. They should have the Pioneer Room open by early afternoon today and will be open through the weekend.

This suspect has been identified and arrested.

The Woodward Police Dept. is seeking the public's help in identifying this subject who robbed the Cricket Wireless store this morning at around 10:30. He is described as white, about 5'07" tall with blue eyes. If you can identify this subject please call 580-254-8532 or go to the City of Woodward website and leave a tip. You can remain anonymous.
