Arsonist arrested in Woodward.
On July 25, 2026, at approximately 2:23 a.m., the Woodward Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 417 17th Street, Woodward, OK. The fire was extinguished but the residence was deemed a total loss. A witness saw two people in a dark gray pickup near the property with one person approaching the home shortly before the fire.
On July 27, 2026, at approximately 1:02 a.m., the Woodward Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 223 9th Street, Woodward, OK. The fire was extinguished but the residence was deemed a total loss.
On July 27, 2026, at approximately 1:18 p.m., Woodward County Sheriff's Deputy Trey Combs noticed an occupied dark gray pickup parked near the 9th Street address. The pickup left the scene when the driver noticed Deputy Combs' patrol vehicle. After observing a traffic violation, Deputy Combs stopped the pickup. Deputy Combs noticed what appeared to be a stolen traffic control device in the pickup. Further investigation revealed lighters and lighter fluid in the pickup. The driver, 19-year-old Kenneth Bracen Plummer, was arrested for possession of the stolen traffic control device. During a custodial interview, Plummer confessed to lighting both fires. Plummer is being charged with possession of stolen property, two counts of Burglary in the 2nd degree, two counts of arson in the 2nd degree, and endangering human life during the commission of an arson.
The Woodward County Sheriff's Office, City of Woodward Fire Marshal, and the Woodward Police Department are investigating.
