It is with Heavy heart we share the loss of Chief Steve Peal. Steve had a long hard fought battle with cancer and showed us all how to never give up and fight until the very end. We Love you Brother, we got it from here.

It is with sad and heavy hearts to share that our fire chief, Steve Peal, went home to be with the Lord today. May you rest in peace our faithful friend.

🚫🔥 Burn Ban Notice – Patrick County 🔥🚫

As of April 14, 2026, at 12:01 AM (0001), Patrick County is under a FULL BURN BAN until further notice.

This means NO outdoor burning of any kind, including:
• Brush piles
• Yard debris
• Campfires
• Burn barrels
• Agricultural burns

Please help keep our community safe and prevent wildfires by following the ban. We will share updates when the burn ban is lifted.

The Patrick County Board of Supervisors has decided to lift the burn ban. Please me mindful of conditions before burning anything. If you plan to burn Please contact Patrick County Dispatch on the non emergency number 276-694-3161 to let them know before it becomes an emergency. Your neighbors may not know it is a control burn and call it in as a fire.

Good start...this year's Octoberfest is under way! We do have applebutter for sale, the food is ready, music is playing. Come out and don't miss it! Larry Sigmon and the VA girls are on stage next.

This past Saturday WVFD trained with members from CCDF, Ararat, and Fairystone fire departments, along with Patrick County Emergency Management, on school bus extrication and rescue. We really hope these are skills that will never be put to use, but better to have trained on it. We appreciate the great turn out of volunteers to train and learn at the beginning of the school year! Thanks to PC Schools for the bus to practice on - we might have even enjoyed cutting it up just a bit.
