🗓Tomorrow-Friday, May 29th🗓

The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Rhode Island will be taking place across the State.

Please note that the Woonsocket leg (Woonsocket ->the Statehouse) begins at ⏰️9:30 a.m. The runners are expected to reach Cumberland in the area of Mendon Road at Rt. 99 at approximately 9:57 a.m. and will continue South on Mendon Road to the Lincoln line (Ann & Hope Way). *Expected arrival time is 11:22 a.m.*

⚠️Please note that there will be traffic delays as the runners make their way through town. Please plan accordingly.

Yesterday, members of Northern Rhode Island technical rescue teams had a joint training on heavy vehicle lifting and difficult extrications. Special thanks to Woonsocket Auto Salvage for letting us use their location for this training!

Tonight members responded to reports of a dog stuck out on the ice. Personnel were able to track down this pup in a difficult situation. After crossing the river safely to the dog’s location, members were able to successfully rescue the animal.

This pup was safely returned to their owner and will spend the rest of the night in much warmer conditions after a job well done by Engine 2 and Rescue 1.

Your Woonsocket Firefighters will be on duty and ready to respond during the storm as we always are. Only travel during the storm if you absolutely have to, this allows plows and emergency vehicles to navigate safely and more efficiently. Use safe methods to stay warm, and keep an eye out on your neighbors, especially the elderly.
