DDay in Saipan....The amphibious assault and landings during the invasion of Saipan on June 15, 1944, officially began around 07:00 when landing vehicles moved toward the beaches. Following intensive naval bombardment and carrier-based air attacks, U.S. Marines stormed the shores of Saipan on June 15, 1944. The Battle of Saipan marked one of the most significant and fiercely contested amphibious assaults in the Central Pacific during World War II.

Over nearly a month of relentless combat, American forces fought with extraordinary courage and determination against a deeply entrenched enemy. The victory at Saipan proved to be a critical turning point in the Pacific Theater, bringing Allied forces within striking distance of the Japanese homeland.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who served during World War II—those who fought on land, at sea, and in the air. We remember the sacrifices they made, the hardships they endured, and the freedoms they secured for future generations.

As the years pass, their stories must continue to be told, their service remembered, and their legacy preserved.

We are proud to once again offer the Holmes-Wayne Honor Trip, a special opportunity for local veterans to visit the memorials in Washington, D.C. and receive the recognition they so greatly deserve.

This meaningful trip is designed to honor those who have served our country, many of whom never received a proper welcome home. It’s a powerful experience filled with reflection, appreciation, and community support.

Applications for the 2026 trip are now open, with a deadline of May 29th.
