Work is underway at Kinney Field!

Ken Shafer and Ron Holtman of the Wooster Rotary have begun removing invasive vegetation along the creek at Kinney Field as part of a larger restoration project.

The work is focused on removing invasive species, including Callery pear, honeysuckle, autumn olive, multiflora rose, cattails, and poison hemlock. Established native trees are not being removed.

The removal is the first phase of the project. Later this fall, native trees and shrubs suited to wetland conditions will be planted to help restore the area and improve its ability to absorb water and manage runoff.

The project is being completed through donated work by the Wooster Rotary and partner clubs.
