Not all depression is the result of personal sin, but more of it is than we often care to admit in ourselves and challenge in others.
Here are two thoughts for how CONFESSION is vital to processing in a healthy, holy manner our acute and chronic DEPRESSION from Dr. Ed Welch:
1) "AS YOU WAIT for your faith to grow, you wonder if you can hold on long enough. This brings us to the little-known skill that can speed up the process: confessing your sin. Confession is an accelerant for faith and closeness to God. Notice how human relationships can be brought closer when one person confesses his or her wrong to the other. 'Will you forgive me?' can remove relational distance in a moment."
2) "Sin is not good, but confession of sin is very good. It gives you evidence of God’s goodness, it unloads weights that make depression even more burdensome, and it helps you discern Satan’s lies."
