Today is Emergency Management Recognition Day in Ohio.
“In Ohio, we are fortunate to have 88 county Emergency Management Agencies staffed by trained professionals,” said Sima Merick, executive director of the Ohio Emergency Management Agency. “Their essential and behind the scenes work often goes unseen, and August 15th is dedicated to recognizing their service.”

NWS is forecasting excessive heat this coming week with the heat index approaching 100+ degrees. Now is a good time to make sure you have plenty of water, check your AC, and make plans for your pets.

High pressure builds across the eastern United States next week that will bring elevated temperatures and heat risk to the region. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s to low 90s with overnight lows providing little relief with temperatures in the low 70s.
