The Wooster City School District partners with Akron Children’s Hospital for Nursing Services. Each building is fully staffed with either an Akron Children’s Hospital Medical Assistant (elementary buildings) or a BSN Registered Nurse (middle and high school). The District also employs one BSN Registered Nurse who supports all buildings daily. To learn more about our School-Based Health Services, please the following link to watch a short video.

Daily attendance is critical to student success – from kindergarten all the way through high school graduation – and leads to students who can read on grade level, graduate high school on time, and choose the training, education, and careers that best suit their goals, and because when we work together across education, families, communities, civic organizations, and businesses, we can accomplish more than working alone.

This February, we will celebrate Black History Month across all schools in our district. From preschool through high school, students will have an opportunity to learn about Black history through art, books, dance, and lessons. We also look forward to celebrating Charles Follis Day on February 3. Charles was the first Black professional American football player and a Wooster alumni.

Our goal is to create meaningful educational experiences that reflect our commitment to diversity and inclusivity. By highlighting these important contributions, we hope to inspire our students to appreciate and respect the many cultures that make up our community.

It is helpful if you can avoid scheduling medical appointments and extended trips while school is in session. But when should your child stay home from school? Our partnership with Akron Children’s Hospital helps us determine when a student should be excused from school.
