Catholic Charities is enhancing its Parent Respite and Support Program thanks to funding from the Wayne County Community Foundation Youth Foundation Grant. The grant provided adaptive items like sensory books, tactile toys, and other engaging resources for individuals with developmental disabilities.
The program gives caregivers time to rest while their children enjoy safe, meaningful activities. Sensory books—featuring bright colors, textured pages, and interactive sounds—are designed for individuals with limited muscle control. With support, participants can explore pages, textures, and sounds, encouraging engagement, sensory stimulation, and a love of reading for all abilities.
