A "Happy Tail" update on Peggy, now Winona. Winona adopted in May, is doing GREAT and adjusting well to her new home. Her adopters report that she absolutely loves the cats, other dog, kids and her pet parents Her favorite thing to do is sun bathe. 😎 Her adopters are so happy that she came into their lives and became part of their family.

A BIG thank you to Winona's adopters for adopting this delightful gal and giving her a wonderful home full of love. đŸ©·

We know, we know - it's too early to be thinking about Christmas! But if we don't get these ideas out now the time will fly and then we'll be late!

Our annual Santa Paws evening will be Friday, December 11th this year. All the typical things will be happening - shopping, door prizes, photos with Santa, and of course adoptable dogs!

If you'd like to display your product or service to our guests, contact us now for more information. Food and drink trucks, we'd love to have a couple of you aboard as well. This is always a well-attended event, so you don't want to miss out! Call, email, or FB message any time with your questions.

Meet Poker!

Shhh... don't tell the other dogs, but Poker is a volunteer favorite! And honestly, we're not surprised one bit. This handsome boy has a personality that keeps everyone smiling because you truly never know what you're going to get with Poker.

He'll be hanging out, minding his own business, being perfectly calm and sweet... and then BAM — ZOOMIES! Suddenly he's off like he just remembered he has somewhere very important to be. When he's not busy showing off his zoomie skills, Poker is probably looking for one of his beloved tennis balls. This boy LOVES his tennis balls!

Poker is also a huge fan of water and pools. If there's water around, you can bet he's interested! He has a goofy, playful side, but he also has a wonderfully calm and sweet side that comes out when he's ready to relax.

He's a pretty decent walker on leash and is VERY enthusiastic when treats are involved. Poker definitely believes snacks are an important part of any healthy relationship, and he's more than happy to participate in treat time.

With his playful personality and love for getting out and about, Poker would make an awesome adventure buddy for an active family. Hiking, exploring, playing fetch, hitting the trails, or finding somewhere new to go would be right up his alley. He'd love a family that can give him plenty of activity and opportunities to burn off some of that zoomie energy before settling in for some quality relaxation.

When it comes to other dogs, Poker can be a little selective. He's not necessarily looking for every dog he meets to be his new best friend, and he can sometimes be a rough player. Because of that, a meet and greet with any potential canine siblings is always preferred to make sure everyone is a good match.

Poker is goofy, playful, affectionate, treat-motivated, tennis-ball obsessed, water-loving, and occasionally powered by his own personal rocket engine. But underneath all that fun is a sweet boy who has clearly made quite an impression on the people who spend time with him.

if you are interested in poker, please call 330-345-1018 to schedule a meet after submitting a questionnaire here: https://www.waynedogshelter.org/adoption-questionnaire

Meet Ohana!

Ohana is a gentle, quiet soul who is looking for someone willing to give him the time and patience he needs to feel comfortable. He is a very calm boy, but the shelter environment can be overwhelming for him, and he can be anxious while trying to figure out what’s going on around him.

One thing we have noticed is that Ohana does much better when he is with his brother, Re*****on. Having his brother nearby seems to give him a sense of comfort and security, and we would absolutely love to see these two boys have the opportunity to stay together if the right home comes along.

Ohana isn't interested in toys just yet, and that's okay. Right now, he seems much more interested in finding a comfortable spot on the couch and simply relaxing. He's a quiet companion who would likely appreciate a calm home where he can decompress, build confidence, and learn that he is safe.

Ohana also walks nicely on a leash and enjoys taking things at his own pace. He isn't looking for a busy, chaotic lifestyle — he's looking for comfort, patience, and someone who will give him the opportunity to settle in and show his true personality.

Ohana may not be the dog who immediately runs up and demands attention, but we believe there is a sweet boy underneath that anxiety who is just waiting for someone to give him the chance to show it. He needs someone who will be patient with him, celebrate his little victories, and allow him to come out of his shell at his own pace.

If you're looking for a calm, gentle companion and have the patience to help a nervous dog discover how wonderful life can be, Ohana may be the boy you've been waiting for.

Meet Re*****on!

Re*****on is a sweet, easygoing boy who is ready to find a place he can finally call home. He came to us with his brother, Ohana, who is also available for adoption. While Re*****on has been separated from his brother for most of their time here, they do get occasional play yard time together and get along wonderfully.

Re*****on is a pretty laid-back guy who knows how to appreciate the good things in life. His favorite place to be is hanging out on the couch, where he can relax and enjoy some quality downtime. When he isn't busy claiming the couch, he enjoys squeaky toys and is always happy to accept a tasty treat — especially since he takes them so nicely!

He has a gentle, lovable personality and is the kind of dog who would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a sweet boy to share their home with. He doesn't need anything fancy — just a comfortable place to relax, some toys to keep him entertained, treats to remind him how good he is, and people who will love him for the wonderful dog he is.

Re*****on has spent enough time waiting. He deserves a couch of his own, a family to spoil him, and a place where he can truly settle in and be someone's best friend.

Come meet Re*****on and see if he's the missing piece to your family!

Meet our girl Delores!

Delores is the kind of girl who seems to have found the perfect balance. She’s not too much energy, but just enough to keep things fun. She’s super sweet, easygoing, and just an all-around lovely dog to be around.

Delores has a big smile and a playful side that comes out when tennis balls are involved. She is absolutely obsessed with squeaky toys, especially tennis balls, and she already knows exactly what “get the ball” means! She also enjoys hanging out on the outdoor play structure and has decided our couch is another pretty great place to spend her time.

She’s independent enough to keep herself occupied, but she does occasionally seek out human attention and enjoys some good one-on-one time with her people.

Delores does pull on leash, so her walking manners could use a little work, but she’s a young, willing girl with plenty of room to learn. She is also a very good girl about her kennel and does a great job getting herself in and out.

If you’re looking for a dog who is sweet without being overwhelming, playful without being nonstop, and easygoing without being boring, Delores might just be your girl. She has the kind of personality that makes her incredibly easy to love, and we can’t wait to see her find the family she deserves.
