Hello folks! Volunteer registration for the 2023 Boston Marathon will be closing Friday, February 10 at 5:00 pm!

The BAA team is still looking for more amateur radio volunteers.

If you are a returning volunteer and you haven't signed up yet, please make sure to do so before 5pm Friday. New volunteers are also needed.

The Boston Athletic Association has announced that the 124th Boston Marathon will be held as a virtual event, following Boston Mayor Martin Walsh’s cancellation of the marathon as a mass participation road running event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All participants who were originally registered for the April 20, 2020 event will be offered a refund for their full entry fee associated with the race and will have the opportunity to participate in the virtual Boston Marathon, which can be run any time between September 7–14.

The B.A.A. will offer a series of virtual events & activities throughout September’s Marathon Week to bring the Boston Marathon experience to the world. This will include exclusive panel discussions, champions interviews, and a downloadable toolkit with signature race elements.

Participants in the virtual 2020 Boston Marathon will be required to complete the 26.2 mile distance within 6 hours & provide proof of timing. All finishers of the virtual race will receive an official Boston Marathon program, participant t-shirt, medal, & runner’s bib.

Our deepest condolences to the Worcester Fire Department on the loss of Lt. Menard during this morning's fire. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues.

It is with a very heavy heart that Chief Michael Lavoie, City Manager Edward M. Augustus, Jr. and Mayor Petty announce the devastating loss of Lt. Jason Menard, a member of the WFD since 2010 assigned to Ladder 5, Group 2 at McKeon Road Fire Station. Lt. Menard succumbed to his injuries battling a 4 alarm fire on Stockholm Street this morning, Wednesday, November 13. He leaves behind his wife Tina, 3 children & parents. It is an extremely difficult day for the Worcester Fire Department. Lt. Menard and his crew acted selflessly and heroically. Please keep the family of Lt. Menard, his friends and crew in your thoughts and prayers.
