Annette Rafferty and the founders started something extraordinary.

Fifty years later, this is what it looks like: residents & guests, former residents, volunteers, sponsors, donors, staff, advocates, and all the people who show up and stay. These people are all responsible for keeping this work going in very real ways.

The 50th Anniversary Gala might be over, but the work isn’t.

To all of those who made this happen, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It’s because of you that the next person who walks through our doors will be able to say, “I Am Abby’s House,” too.

We are so proud.

At our 50th Anniversary Gala on May 29th, we presented the very first Light Keeper Award, a new honor recognizing a staff member who serves as a beacon of advocacy within our community.

This year, that award went to Shayla Halloran, one of our Women's Advocates, whose dedication to the women and families we serve is something we are grateful for every single day.

Congratulations, Shayla. You are exactly what this award was made for.

Happy Pride Month from Abby's House! For 50 years, we've believed that everyone deserves a safe place to land and be supported exactly as they are.

As an organization serving women and children experiencing homelessness, we know that housing insecurity doesn't affect every community equally. LGBTQIA+ individuals face disproportionately high rates of homelessness, making affirming, supportive spaces essential.

This month and every month, we stand with our LGBTQIA+ community. 🏳️‍🌈

Last night was more than a gala - it was 50 years of love, community, and mission all in one room. To everyone who joined us in person, followed along from home, bid on auction items, and has shown up for Abby's House in any way big or small, thank you. Truly.

None of this happens without you. And last night was proof of just how extraordinary this community is. We are so grateful. 💙

Today is the day - 50 years in the making. 🎉

Tonight at 5PM, we gather to celebrate five decades of shelter & housing, hope & advocacy, and of course, community at our 50th Anniversary Gala. Our hearts are so full knowing how many of you have been part of this journey!

"A community doesn't rise on one large gift, but on hundreds of shared commitments." That is exactly how BUW Local 330 and the Brotherhood of Utility Workers Council has shown up for Abby's House, for over ten years and counting.

This year, Abby's House is proud to present a Stephen S. Foster Award to Local 330 in recognition of over a decade of collective action. They have mobilized an entire network of union locals, collected donations, supplies, and toys year after year, brought the Abby's House story to members across Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island, and shown up at our door every year with a very special guest in tow.

Their partnership with Abby's House is rooted in a shared conviction: that fighting for the dignity and security of others is not charity. It is simply what community looks like.

As we celebrate 50 years of this mission, we are so grateful for the kind of partner you can count on.
