We appreciate the opportunity and are grateful that enough members of the student body approached us to speak out against the unwise Green Fund initiative. In doing so, this statement can remain short and sweet.
Accumulating hundreds of thousands of dollars over a few years to use at the discretion of a board of students that funds a program that could be equally accomplished with a well-marketed social media campaign, is not only unwise or a waste of resources, but a discredit to the tenants of Holy Cross. A no vote to the Green Fund is simply the competent choice.
We stand eager to be at the helm of a sustainability campaign ourselves that would have a greater effect than could any increase to student tuition.
We implore the majority of rational students on this campus to sign into moodle and vote no, rather than maintaining the precedent by not voting. Voting no is not saying no to sustainability, but no to the ever-increasing cost of our education.
In fact, we request that the SGA evaluate the present Student Activity Fee and find ways to lower or freeze the fee to truly benefit the student body.
